0% Crew health on ships

Has anyone else noticing that sometimes when shooting ships and they reach 0% crew it seems like no matter what you do ship won’t die to crew loss. I noticed this happening to enemy and myself where I reach 0% crew and start sinking but shooting operational guns and bridge won’t kill the ship like it used to.

It feels kinda unfair to guy who has done enough damage to crew to still get his ship sometimes even sunk by 0% crew boat/ship because you have to wait ship to sink.

I had few months brake from WT earlier this year and clearly there was some DM changes done, but I never noticed this before that. It also seems that crew counter doesn’t even work and many times it goes up and down between two numbers when before it was quite accurate how much crew enemy had left.

I’ve been doing the event now and have been using MPK Pr.201M. Almost everyday I see my self go to 0% crew and start sinking I can still rack up 1-2 kills while they kill my bridge and turrets, but in the end I always die to flooding.

Yep, had one tank a LOT of hits whilst at 0%. Have been meaning to submit a bug report but never got round to doing it

When crew is down to 0%, the rats take over the ship.

There is a bug in the game that should be fixed, but isn’t:

A bug that caused the survivability percentage displayed in the hitcam to not match the actual percentage when attacking a target with an upgraded crew has been fixed.
Update 2.35.0.55 - Updates - Game - War Thunder

Unfortunately, they don’t test their changes and don’t play the game (for Naval players it was obvious this fix didn’t work the day the update was released). The devs only change the code and hope it will work. Sometimes the fix doesn’t work, which is what happened in this case.

But bug reports about this problem were closed, because according to the devs this issue is “fixed”, e.g.:

You would have to recreate a bug report about this problem, explain the situation (so your new report won’t be closed as “already fixed”), hope your report will be passed to the devs and the next time they will do a proper fix.

That explains something, but I still don’t think all. Even if it would show wrong crew that there would be 10-20% crew left in many boats shooting all the weapon emplacements and bridge crew would still drop the crew count to zero, but this clearly isn’t happening.

Only explanation is that crew is at zero and ship won’t die or the last crew is counted at being some really weird place like radio room or something and destruction of weapons and bridge won’t deduct crew count after that point.

Sadly I don’t have interest to do bug report and then hop all the hoops of trying to make it pass. Maybe it gets fixed in future or not. Naval has been such a mess for long time, DM being changed almost every update and you never know is something a bug or feature at this point. Good example being my Atlanta having 3 shell room detonations in a row and non of them did any damage to my ship or killed any crew.

Not really that weird places. Usually you have to shoot the bridge and guns to finish the enemy ship.

For example, take a look at my death at 5:34:

Spoiler

https://youtu.be/cW2a3XxxKWQ?t=334

It’s not a bugged death, you can see my crew members first dropped to 6%, so I have not enough crew members to pump out the water (which means a slow death), but I have enough crew members to operate the guns and the ship. Then the next shots destroy my rear guns (and the crew inside), which drops my crew to 2%. I’m still alive, because I still have a crew on the bridge and inside front guns. But the next salvo hits the bridge area, and that killed enough crew members to consider my ship dead. You can also see the message “Crew knocked out”. Everything worked fine in this case, how it supposed to work.

And here at 13:24 is my bugged death example:

Spoiler

https://youtu.be/Ym8CzfoGpnc?t=804

I have 10% of my crew left. Then I get a random hit and my crew is in theory instantly reduced to 0%. You can see I don’t have enough crew members to pump out the water, like in the previous example. But I clearly still have enough crew members to operate guns and on the bridge. In reality I still have about 6-7% of the crew left (notice the indicator is yellow, not red), just the display shows 0%. And because no one is hitting me, my ship will slowly sink. But it’s definitely not indestructible. If someone at this point shoot my guns and my bridge, he would have killed me by killing all the crew. But because other players stopped shooting at me, I died because I “drowned”.

It’s just the indicator that is sometimes broken. I usually notice this on enemies, I don’t pay too much attention to my crew indicator. But there is definitely a problem after the devs changed the UI, and they already tried to fix this, but failed.

Sadly, that’s the way I see things nowadays as well. I’m basically sick of trying to explain basics, especially about Naval game mode to bug moderators, who don’t want to pass my bug reports, because according to them it’s “not a bug”.

And if you PM them and try to explain the specific problem in Naval, they often feel offended, because according to them they know everything, even if they don’t play Naval, and you know nothing.

I simply don’t report bugs nowadays, but like many players, I know these bugs very well. They are in the game often for months or even years. But there is no way to contact the devs directly. Creating reports about bugs is very often a waste of time, e.g. check this topic:

How can a bug moderator mark such bug report as “not a bug”? It doesn’t make any sense! But that’s what players have to deal with, and that’s a huge problem.

I remember there was a community topic on the old forum that tried to gather all Naval problems and pass them directly to the devs, but this project failed massively:

Many of the bugs reported there are still in the game.

To be honest, I wish some devs were actually on the forum, creating such topics and talking to players there about bugs, but also explaining why some things are the way they are (the vision of the devs). But I know that will never happen in this game.

I’ve been experiencing this today - first time I’ve seen it happen.

Expect to see it often.

The issue was around for ages, was ‘fixed’ only to come back again soon after and subsequent reports being ‘not a bug’ (so it’s a feature then!?!)

I would put money on the Devs claiming it’s a lag or ping issue, except that doesn’t account for the times crew actually reaches 0 and then magically jumps back up again (that would require not only data loss or delay, but in the exact same manner time after time!) . It should only ever go down, and if it hits 0% that’s dead in every game and mode except WT naval it seems.

NEVER trust the %, Never! Shoot until it registers as a kill. And then add an additional salvo just because you still refuse to believe it.

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense to be lag when it you keep shooting ships with fast firing guns and crew % goes between same two numbers. It is almost like game knows that ship should lose crew hp, but same other system says no. It looks similar like in some Ground vehicles that fire fast you see game sometimes adding shells to your magazine during long burst.

i put it down to
gaijun wanting to give the kill to some particular player … for some reason

like the range change it seems to be about letting gaijun control outcomes

This is becoming an increasing problem for me - a matter of trust. I’m growing less and less confident that WT is actually an honest PVP game. Whether it’s the never-ending “nerfing,” “buffing,” “re-balancing,” etc, the strange lack of actual team competitiveness within matches, the endless gambling mechanics … I’m honestly not sure I trust Gaijin to run an honest gaming platform.

people pay to upgrade their crews to ace level

that is supposed to give bonuses to hit, damage, defense, and speed .
the only way that can be done is to have the ability to modify / control what is happening in game
so
pay to win
or
pay to become more skillful

Got yesterday even one with only 7% and nothing get down even you shoot from the buck to the stern. Looks like the problem begins not only at 0%.
