Not really that weird places. Usually you have to shoot the bridge and guns to finish the enemy ship.
For example, take a look at my death at 5:34:

It’s not a bugged death, you can see my crew members first dropped to 6%, so I have not enough crew members to pump out the water (which means a slow death), but I have enough crew members to operate the guns and the ship. Then the next shots destroy my rear guns (and the crew inside), which drops my crew to 2%. I’m still alive, because I still have a crew on the bridge and inside front guns. But the next salvo hits the bridge area, and that killed enough crew members to consider my ship dead. You can also see the message “Crew knocked out”. Everything worked fine in this case, how it supposed to work.
And here at 13:24 is my bugged death example:

I have 10% of my crew left. Then I get a random hit and my crew is in theory instantly reduced to 0%. You can see I don’t have enough crew members to pump out the water, like in the previous example. But I clearly still have enough crew members to operate guns and on the bridge. In reality I still have about 6-7% of the crew left (notice the indicator is yellow, not red), just the display shows 0%. And because no one is hitting me, my ship will slowly sink. But it’s definitely not indestructible. If someone at this point shoot my guns and my bridge, he would have killed me by killing all the crew. But because other players stopped shooting at me, I died because I “drowned”.
It’s just the indicator that is sometimes broken. I usually notice this on enemies, I don’t pay too much attention to my crew indicator. But there is definitely a problem after the devs changed the UI, and they already tried to fix this, but failed.
Sadly, that’s the way I see things nowadays as well. I’m basically sick of trying to explain basics, especially about Naval game mode to bug moderators, who don’t want to pass my bug reports, because according to them it’s “not a bug”.
And if you PM them and try to explain the specific problem in Naval, they often feel offended, because according to them they know everything, even if they don’t play Naval, and you know nothing.
I simply don’t report bugs nowadays, but like many players, I know these bugs very well. They are in the game often for months or even years. But there is no way to contact the devs directly. Creating reports about bugs is very often a waste of time, e.g. check this topic:
How can a bug moderator mark such bug report as “not a bug”? It doesn’t make any sense! But that’s what players have to deal with, and that’s a huge problem.
I remember there was a community topic on the old forum that tried to gather all Naval problems and pass them directly to the devs, but this project failed massively:
Many of the bugs reported there are still in the game.
To be honest, I wish some devs were actually on the forum, creating such topics and talking to players there about bugs, but also explaining why some things are the way they are (the vision of the devs). But I know that will never happen in this game.
