I know that we know the 124 started in the 1980s. But how do we know that this is the same project? This is a random twitter user. How do we actually know that this is the same thing as the 124 in the 1980s?

To be honest, I have never seen this helmet, it may be similar to an airplane helmet

All self-developed factory vehicles will propose several options and then choose one

That doesn’t answer the question. How do we we know that this new tank is the 124 from the 1980s? How do we know that this new tank is any kind of 124 at all?

Just because he started this project in 1980 doesn’t mean he will have the same configuration as the one proposed in 1980. This car may be pushed to redo many times, just like the ZTZ-99 originally had 3-4 options

You’ve not provided any proof that this is the same project though. It could be, I’m not saying it isn’t, I’m saying that you haven’t proven that this is the same project.

If you want to know, you can only wait until 9.3
:)
Currently, only semi official figures have been leaked

I am waiting until 3 September. In fact, specifically because we will probably learn names there, I have been waiting for months.

Gotta admit the ZTZ-201 (I´m calling it that until the name gets officially declared) beats T-14 in aesthetics.

Could it have third-person thermal?

Oh wow, wonder why the smaller gun?

I guess due to the smaller, one piece ammunition. Apparently there’s a better APFSDS round than DTC02-105 in development / in testing? It’s supposed to be on par with 120 / 125 mm guns.

I’d be keen for a fast reload as well.

Is the left tank the actual WZ201?

Beats it also in actually working and China being able to produce it lol

No, these two are the original two plans of ZTQ-15

I would rather take the VT-5 tbqh, this doesn’t seem to have the bones of a modular tank as the future of China’s armored forces to me.

As said this is a 96 series replacement, likely has unmanned turret and is lighter than other MBTs, probably a hull design a bit like ABRAMS, lower hull facing, autoloader like VT-5.

That’s what it likely is, since it turned out western style MBTs are likely too heavy for china’s liking, and Russian ones aren’t mobile enough.
