There is no evidence to suggest it was LOAL anyway, and that with SLM/other ARH SPAA, LOAL will not even be OP, except MMW ones which of course has just FnF from the start without having to guide it for a few seconds. And to this, I agree to the other guy’s point, where even with LOAL this thing will not excel the boundary of OP defined specifically by KH38MT, which is a response to Smin’s point that it in fact was going to be more OP than existing weapons in game.

All loals will only appear in this way. No matter how much you argue, you can’t stop a missile with no data from appearing in the game. What’s more, players just want a missile that is exactly the same as the spike. Who cares about the damn loal?
IR LOAL and MMW are
I assume that there is some confusion because there is probably a non LOAL and a LOAL version, and you say LOAL wont be OP but it still be very annoying

Yes but in different ways as MMW LOALs can be thrown all at once and IR one or two at a time, both requires DL like system to work, but I think Brimstones might be able to just be thrown straight away.
There is nothing to suggest it specifically had LOAL but due to its predecessors it’s thought to have LOAL. LOAL would also require likely GTMI or continuous designation until sth like 8km, where there will be plenty of time for something like SLM to take it down when new patch drops, and I remain skeptical of it being able to reach more than 12-15km kinetically from a relatively horizontal point.
KH38 is FnF from 20km+ out with planes that have CAP capability (excluding SM3), TY90s are nice but aren’t to the same extent as strong as Su34/30. They can’t be compared in the same way, and KH38 has hugely advantageous kinetics.
theres a reason I said excluding the kh38, honestly surely even gaijin regrets adding it to the game at this point, they just dont want to fold I reckon

i just tried it again on the server, and the kh29t can still do this.
It can be launched outside the moving target lock range, and the seeker will automatically track the new target within the moving target lock range.
to be honest, I think loal is meaningless. Giving this to all countries will not affect the so-called game balance at all, and it can’t even shake the current status of kh38

the idea of LOAL or at least MMW is that you can fire it without even locking the ground in front of your target, like a GPS/GNSS munition that can then lock onto a target once it gets close enough. what you are talking about is the fake LOAL of reacquiring a target after getting a point lock, which isnt really OP but is still annoying. actual MMW or LOAL is OP and at least as bad as every nation getting KH38s
oh bro. All version of spike missiles which is already in game got a optical fiber wire(In Earth Online). and that optical fiber wire makes spike missile able to LOAL.

as far as I am aware, in the fire and observe mode you cannot lock a new target and the missile becomes manually guided only, which defeats the whole point of a fire and forget missile for warthunder, it just becomes a POV tow missile

most MMW platforms additionally have some form of GPS guidance and/or intertial guidance allowing you to shoot before a target is found or in the general direction of a target and then let the missile find a target once it gets close enough
and technically yes you can shoot fox 3 missiles without locking a target, sure you need to lock a target to actually shoot the missile but you can drop the lock and even turn off your radar or fly away before the missile goes pitbull, and it will then use inertial navigation to get to where the target was before trying to reaquire the target itself
