If 9Ms are 12.0 minimum, then all IRCCM missiles should be 12.0 minimum. I dont think its fair to nerf the hell out of the A-10C but not the others just because Aim-9Ms are different to flare (personally i find them easier to deal with than R-73s quite often).
9Ls… I think the balance is about right, most are 10.7 and those that arent, are not that big of an issue. Personally I find super-sonic aircraft, like the T-2, Q-5, F-104, Mig-21, F-4C, etc more annoying to deal with in sub-sonics. At least something like the A-10 you can reasonably avoid, even in something not supersonic, as it is very slow, so with smart position you can keep yourself safe. But something supersonic, you cant. If they are smart, there is rarely anything you can do to defend against them.
Had a very annoying fight against a T-2 in Sim in the Hunter F6, every fight ended basically the same way, id get my nose round onto his tail, fire an SRAAM and then he would just outrun it, run off and then reappear 5-10 minutes later. I think I ended up just RTB’ing in the end and swapping aircraft.
Personally, that is a “scarier” image to see in something like a Hunter and I spent most of the match just chasing after Q-5s and F-104s. Nearly lost the game on tickets because the last guy just ran away from everyone, thankfully he did the decent thing, landed and J’ed out
If im playing a sub sonic against super sonics, that is truly annoying, your right. However, there is a big difference fighting someone i can feasibly dog fight compared to an a10 thats switched on having a 4km no fly zone around him if your super sonic and a 5km no fly zone if your sub sonic.
Also, i meant all ircm missiles being 12.0 and above, just like how the mirage f1s (before the fm buff) were stuck at “12.0”, aka the old 11.3 br range, due to having magic 2s. 9ms require at least 20 flares to dodge effectively and thats for players who know exactly what thier doing. That would mean some jets facing it can only really flare off 3 of them at most. I believe its better to have a healthy br range than let some jets like the a10 be somewhat competitive. The true fix for them is gaijin getting their heads out of their asses and moving the cas objectives away from the middle of the f’ing map.
If your lucky u do get them, but gaijin would also have to increase the game timer as 25 minutes is just no longer enough. Having a dedicated rb sim mode would do wonders for bombers, however you would also have people play it in under br’ed jets and swamp teams so it would probably have to have a slightly different br brackets.
Its a rough situation, but if they were moving towards you at 8.5km separation, I think you have enough time to turn to one side and leg it, then (gradually) loop on behind them and feast with your vulcan.
A good idea is to bring a little rocket pod, most of the time, firing a couple distracts AIM-9Ls and definitely distracts R-60Ms.
At this tier, having good gamesense and being able to ‘see into the future’ is optimal. Ideally you wouldnt put yourself in this scenario where the A-10s are close enough to you that they may be able to get a 9L off as you turn around, keep your awareness up.
An of course, there are situations where, say, the spotting system fucks you up, i.e., those A-10s suddently appear at 3km separation. Sometimes there is little you can do, which is why they need to go further up in BR, despite being hopeless.
