Real rough on the 17pdr. Struggling to go through easy tanks, APDS shattering on flat surfaces, solid AP failing to go through the sides of tanks for some reason. Rounds doing nothing in the event they do go through (Which is inaccurate, regardless of if it has HE filler or not).
All APCR, all APDS, all HESH, all HEAT, and all solid AP need help.
APHE has been overdue for a nerf bat for years.
Ironically, fixing the pen and especially postpen of the first group would help, not harm all the heavy tanks. Vehicles meant to kill said heavy tanks would now be able to do so. This would lower the heavies’ stats, forcing their BRs downward to where they meet things their armor actually works to block.
Armor is inherently binary - it really isn’t all that entertaining stopping to repair your barrel, breech, or transmission every 2 min from something carelessly cutting through while running circles around you. Either it truly works and frontally stops incoming shells leaving your ability to shoot back successfully intact, or it doesn’t. Any “in between” is simply awaiting inevitable death barring help from an unreliable teammate.
I sometimes wonder if the German heavies should get an 0.9x armour modifier vs full bore rounds to represent the poor characteristics of their face-hardened steel.
I guess people are too new to know this, but that’s what used to be the case and it had a 0.95 armor modifier until 6 something years ago.
And it’s really just a stupid thing to cherry pick some real world aspects and implement them into the game… where do you draw the line? Tons of vehicles suffered from mechanical issues or had other flaws that resulted in them never going beyond the prototype stage, yet somehow only Germany ends up being nerfed because of some real world situation… although that doesn’t even explain why German tanks had a modifier that caused them to catch fire from MGs.
Are we going to model all those flaws as well?
This game has enough cherry picking of features as it is.
