The gepard use dual feed system, apds was carried as emergency AT round which only has 2x20
the 246 however has mixed munition capability but likely only has limited amount(same as gepard or slightly higher)

having proxi would move it up, 246 has more round pen and equally as slow so id rather have 246 at lower br than the sap on the 247
tho 246 at higher BR would have better AT capability cuz side armor of most tank are lower

The 35mm cannon uses a single feed for non-APDS ammo.
The other feed is explicitly for APDS ammo as the barrels cannot withstand more than 40 rounds fired between inspections.

It’s plausible newer versions can withstand the ammo, but not the 1970s and 1980s versions of the gun.

I am all for removing AP rounds from SPAA systems, but the issue here is that things like the Za35 and gepard have AP rounds that obliterate everything at the same BR as this (and in the case of the za-35, being able to go like 70kph faster than this).

If it doesnt have the same capabilities, it should go lower in BR, especially when the gap in overall effectiveness is so large.

It does not have AP, at least from the historic standpoint the round that Gaijin labeled as AP is not AP.
And also from historic standpoint it does not have its real life AP.

SPAAs at a lower BR have more rounds of ammo with more pen…
The AP-round (DM-13) of a Gepard can barely pen a T-series tank from the side (only at the wheels and only at 75/80 to 90 degrees)

And the 246 would also have this round, as all other Oerlikon KDA guns have.

it never had experimental proximity shells afaik, those were something oerlikon made and was so bad in terms of effective range none were bought either, as far as i know that’s how it went, cuz info its pretty limited

Same round with a proximity fu ze called the Motorola Proximity Fuze(MPF).
Development of the MPF started in 1974, being designed as a drop in replacement for the normal point detonating fuze. It was different than the M822 for the M247 in that it was “Adaptive” meaning instead of just exploding when within a certain rang it would take the targets flight vector into account to deliver the best fragmentation on the target. This was needed because of the comparatively light shell could not deliver nearly as much fragmentation as the 40mm. Flight time is not publicly available AFAIK but it’s lead-acid battery is considerably smaller than that in the M822 which had up to 21 seconds of flight time. So it is probably similar to the regular round. Trigger radius appears to be at least 7m from public photo(see below)

[image] The XM246 was the vehicle that lost to the XM247, the vehicle that became the M247 Sergeant York in the DIVAD (Division Air Defense) program of the late 70ties early 80ties. Infamously known as the “good” DIVAD that hit more targets and unfairly lost to the “comically bad” Sergeant York, it is otherwise largely unknown and its info is sparse but we can infer a lot of the relevant specs from the information and requirements known about the DIVAD program.
