  • Basic Description:
    • The Stryker Double Hull Vehicle (DHV), part of the U.S. Army’s Stryker family of armored vehicles, is designed to provide enhanced protection and mobility on the battlefield. A further adaptation of the Stryker vehicle, the DHV variant went into service in 2011 in response to the challenges of asymmetric warfare from both the Afghani and Iraqi theater’s of war. Characterized by its distinctive double hull structure, the vehicle offers improved resistance to small arms fire from its bolt-on ceramic armor plating (STANAG 4569 Level 4), DuPont kevlar spall liner, and explosive threats, making it a formidable asset in various combat scenarios. The double hull design effectively reduces the risk of damage from improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other ballistic threats by redirecting the blast of the explosion away from the occupants of the vehicle. Not to mention, it is equipped with advanced Battlefield Management technology, a robust suite of communications and navigation systems, allowing for seamless coordination with other units and command structures. Its modular design enables quick configuration for various missions, ranging from troop transport to direct fire support. The vehicle can be outfitted with different weapon systems, enhancing its versatility on the battlefield. This adaptability is crucial for modern warfare, where rapid response to changing scenarios is essential. The Stryker DHV’s mobility is further enhanced by its 8x8-configured wheeled platform, which allows for high speeds on both paved and off-road terrains. This mobility, combined with its protective features, makes it suitable for a wide range of missions, including reconnaissance, combat logistics, and humanitarian assistance. The vehicle’s operational effectiveness is complemented by its relatively low maintenance requirements, ensuring that it remains ready for deployment in diverse environments. A recent modification to the DVH, the DVH-A1, includes a new 450hp turbocharged Caterpillar C9 diesel engine, a new 910 amp alternator, a chassis upgrade to support a much higher payload, and much more. Overall, the Stryker DHV-A1 represents a significant evolution in armored vehicle design, emphasizing protection, mobility, and adaptability. Its capabilities make it a vital component of modern military operations, ensuring that forces can operate effectively and safely in various combat situations. The DHV has been configured in multiple roles with the most recent being Oshkosh Defense’s MCWS format.
    • The XM1304/ICVVA1-30MM (Infantry Carrier Vehicle) is the Army’s next generation ICV that incorporates a heavily modified SAMSON MK-II Remote Weapon Module or Samson Pro, known by Oshkosh Defense as the Medium Caliber Weapon Station (MCWS), to the Stryker DVH-A1 platform to significantly increase firepower for Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCTs). This can be seen through the use of Northrop Grumman’s 30mm XM813 Chain Gun which is chambered in 30x173mm. This chain gun is an evolution of the Mk44 Bushmaster that features the ability to fire all standard 30x173mm ammunition such as Mk 258 APFSDS-T as well as the Mk 310 HEAB-T Airburst Round due to the programmer at the end of the barrel. This gun uses the Meggitt linkless dual-feed system and can upgraded to fire 40mm Super Forty munition to further increase firepower. Paired with the XM813 is a coaxial 7.62mm M240C machine gun that can be fired independently from the main gun. Lastly, recently unveiled at AUSA 2024, Oshkosh Defense incorporated a retractable dual FGM-184 Javelin ATGM launcher mounted on the rear of the combat module to significantly increase its capabilities against armored or fortified targets. It is designed to retract into the turret to be able to be reloaded by the crew to engage multiple armored vehicles or targets. The FGM-184 Javelin missile itself is a highly capable Fire and Forget (FnF) missile that can be used in direct fire or top attack modes depending on mission requirements. The Javelin missile has undergone several upgrades with the latest in use being the FGM-148E (Spiral 1) and FGM-148F (Spiral 2) models that provide upgrades to the seeker and actuator components of the missile. The latest variant is under development, the FGM-148G (Spiral 3) model, which will enter production in the near-term. The vehicle also features 3rd-generation CONTROP SIGHT-25HD EO/IR, thermal capable sighting systems that have slight deviations between the Gunner and Commander’s station that offer hunter-killer capabilities. Overall, the new XM1304 will provide the US Army the capability to engage both soft and hard targets, providing essential fire support for dismounting infantry. The XM1304 is due to replace the M1296 Dragoon due to the XM1304 using a double-hull over the obsolete single-hull configuration. Around 100 units are currently in-service with the U.S. Army.

  • In-game :
    • The XM1304 provides the US Tree a key modern IFV to support top ranks against lightly armored vehicles to modern main battle tanks thanks to its Javelin ATGM and 30mm APFSDS-T rounds. The vehicle will fill a similar role to the Freccia IFV however, varies in capability due to the larger caliber autocannon and airburst munitions. Not to mention while the Spike and Javelin are similar in role with advanced fire-and-forget capabilities, they are drastically different in executing said role. Back to the vehicle, the Stryker MCWS also offers a way to integrate the legendary Javelin ATGM into the game for the US tree with a vehicle the US Army is integrating into its ranks. The vehicle also features IRST and programmable air-burst rounds which will be a menace to low-flying aircraft, helicopters, and drones.
    • Estimated Battle Rating: 10.7

The fact that we haven’t gotten any Javelin armed vehicles in-game yet is absurd. I don’t this should the first but +1 regardless.

Updated the post with a few new features I missed and added spall liner to the list. It’s equipped with a Kevlar spall liner produced by DuPont.

Looks like a ton of fun! +1

Trying to figure out the EO/IR Sights on it. They’re stated to be 3rd-generation with auto-tracking but they’re definitely not standard TopLite MiniPop sights found on other variants. If anyone has further information on them let me know, they may be made by L3Harris, GDLS, or Raytheon. Maybe Northrop Grumman since the gun is made by them.

Shouldn’t the weight be around 23-24 tonnes according to the table (without extra armor)?

I had to guess based on the Samson turret and the table being for CROWS. I tried using the Vilkas IFV as an example when compared to the base Boxer APC for an approximate weight. I’d surmise 26t +/-2t but could be wrong. The Samson MK-II/MCWS should weigh around 1.5-2t.

I feel like this could be the top tier SPG/Bradley replacement the USA is missing. I would like something other then TOW’s as well.

I expect the regular M1296 Dragoon (which just has a 30mm and coaxial 7.62mm, but it does have airburst rounds) to be at 9.7-10.0 BR like the VBCI 2 (MCT30) and the XM1304 (if it gets its Javelin’s) to be at 10.7 almost like a Vilkas equivalent.

The XM1304’s Samson Mk-II PRO 30mm remote turret is confirmed to use Controp’s EO/IR gyro-stabilized sight, the commander (actually acting as a squad leader/SL) has a SIGHT-25HD, and the gunner (actually also acting as a vehicle commander/VC) has a variant of the SIGHT-25HD (originally marketed as SIGHT-HD), with only minor differences in specifications.

+1, I’d love to see this, the M1296, the LAV-25, and the ACV-30 added to the US tech tree.
