Just don’t be one of those imbeciles that lowers it and never raises it ever again even when air is around.
If the amx-30’s radar was actually functional i’d say it deserved 8.7. But holy crap is it bad. If you have an aircraft diving directly at you, the radar is so bad the targeting box can wander off the aircraft entirely. Like the plane is shifted 30ft to the right or left. Literally better to just never lock with the radar.
I’ll take the falcon over the amx-30 DCA any day for ground attack. For air… well if you are taking the APDS belt you have a pretty bad loadout for actually killing planes. APDS velicity is much faster than SAP and you only get 1 HE round. Planes don’t produce spalling so SPA is kind of wasted and acts like AP. So overall not a great plane killer and worse than a comparable 8.3 AA at ground attack.
That being said, you probably are playing it at 8.7 anyways. The 8.3 list is functional, but the 8.7 list is so much better.
when im reading the people that says DCA is fine at 8.7…
im like, have any of you never faced a 35mm AA from other nations thats at 8.3 ?
it can litraly overpreassure any tank in the game, even the maus, anything, also the toirtoise and T95 turtle whatever the name…
to add on, they have a stabilizer, faster firerate, and guns appart,
while the DCA has neither of all those
everything except the DCA is more powerfull tha nthe DCA lmao, only the players make it better than gepards and XM246
I agree, it doesn’t have a stabilizer, and the radar is complete crap, lacking friend-or-foe recognition, and now it’s broken. It locks onto anything but the enemy. It can lock onto allies behind you, and the gun starts turning the other way when the enemy starts closing in on you. At least give it a stabilizer, and then I’ll completely agree that his brother… Otherwise, it’s complete nonsense.
DCA and AMX30B2 should go to 8.3 (B2 is substantially slower than BRENUS and 1972, and it does not have the ERA or dazzler of the BRENUS).
Makes absolutely no sense that a non stabilized SPAA (without strict APDS) is at 8.7.
I agree the radar is probably the worst, even more broken than the ZSU23 radar which is complete trash.
Can confirm after playing it - it’s straight dogshit. I don’t have the APDS belt, but it’s pretty fucking difficult to grind when you can’t kill anything at your BR, especially planes. Radar drags you into the floor or just blatantly lies about lead, you can be one tapped by a single 20mm round (happens a lot) and you can’t pen anything. The APHE belt failed to pen a literal tiger II’s turret from a 90 degree angle, and doesn’t do all that much to barrels either.
Someone send help, this vehicle is actually the worst SPAA in the entire game. The wiesel can kill jets easier. This thing supposedly shoots faster than the Gepard but I swear this thing feels so much slower, its impossible to hit anything and the radar purposefully sabotages you
Adding to my rage post above yours, I don’t think it’s performed very well in my hands at all save for 2 games where I got ~5 air kills by sitting in my spawn and killing spawn strafers. The radar is definitely the problem - in my eyes, you shoot things sub-2km away with an SPAA with guns, but the radar doesn’t work at that distance. Even worse, once you get closer than 1km it starts to drift away or lose lock entirely leaving it up to you to hit your shots - again, not the greatest feature in an 8.7 SPAA. At only two BR steps below missile SPAA, you’d expect it to have some redeeming features that at least 8.3 SPAA don’t. Instead, what you get is a worse 8.7 SPAA that gets sabot rounds eventually when you manage to kill enough light vehicles to unlock the belt, leaving you stuck with AT work rather than killing planes, while comparable SPAA like the Gepard can comfortably do both (at a lower BR, but we’ve clarified why).
Even if they fix the radar I’m not sure if the ammo belts (which you can’t even get them in just one ammo type) justify it being at 8.7, it literally has no stabilizer. In its current state I don’t know if this thing is even worthy of being 7.7, the VEAK 40 is leagues better at that battle rating with a radar and all, pretty sure it’s stabilized as well. Some crappy 30mm SAP rounds aren’t going to kill heavy tanks either, which is most of 7.7. If they want this thing to stay at 8.7 they seriously need to upgrade the radar’s capabilities and make the ammo belts more homogenous so you can choose between air and ground more consistently, and get results in either or. Because right now as it stands the thing sucks at both. Like why on earth does it have a 40 second reloading time??? It needs to have some redeeming factor that can justify its battle rating, like the ammo belts aren’t doing it and having a laser rangefinder is laughable considering the US SPAAs get them starting at 8.3 WITH stabilizers. Also fair to mention that those SPAAs and the Gepard have 35mm rounds rather than your weaker 30mm ones with the DCA. So their dedicated APDS belts do more pen than yours, and every round fired is armor penetrating, and it’s stabilized. Icing on the cake is it has a belt with APHE shells that have 20mm of more pen and 10g of more explosive mass and higher velocity. 8.3 by the way. Make it make sense.
A quick explanation might be gaijin’s method of dealing with OP SPAA - moving them up in BR. We’re seeing this live with the Coelian, which got its absurd APHE buff and was “fixed” by moving it up to a higher BR (which is actually more of a buff as 7.0 starts seeing lighter pre-MBT vehicles). Add this onto the “French tax”, which is a popular coping mechanism involving France players apparently being so good all their vehicles are at least 1 BR step higher than they should usually be, and you have your answer.
Realistically? I think gaijin saw a full belt of APDS and decided to move it up, as they do like to focus on a particular aspect of a vehicle as justification rather than considering its all-around capabilities. The stabiliser doesn’t matter all too much given that with how slow you are sometimes, the traverse essentially serves that purpose.
Where are the 100mm penetration shells? They’ve removed them ???
With the recent update yes, apds was removed both for amx-30 dca and falcon.
but not for the gepard, in 8.3 when the amx is in 8.7… lol !
Yeah no br change for some reason, falcon at least is gonna get a radar (even if it’s late) but amx 30 will still be overtierred.
The AMX has always been pretty overtiered, especially considering how bad the radar is. The itPSV, Gepard, XM246, etc are all leagues better at lower or equal BRs, being stabilised 35mm death machines that can fire the “funny” APHE rounds to one tap even heavy tanks, which gaijin decided to fix this update by removing 30mm APDS.
Essentially, gaijin decided 30mm APDS was the problem and not the unrealistic/unexplainable amount of both penetration and explosive filler 35mm (and 30mm) SPAA all get, which is why they’re so good at TD work.
VEAK 40 exists at 7.7. I think both Falcon and DCA will be heading down in BR. You have ZA-35 at 8.7 without APDS, but that has mobility that the DCA could only dream of.
The biggest BR drop I could think of gaijin allowing the DCA is to 8.3, where it’ll still be outperformed by anything with a working radar.
Honestly, this “fix” changes nothing, as it only affects the vast minority of SPAA, and not even the root cause, leaving the overperforming APHE like it’s fine
soooooooooooooo
where’s the BR drop? they even removing its apds
They really forgot about it huh
Kinda funny how the gepard is still 8.3 fully stabilized and bullying tanks yet this unstabilized thing is at 8.7 with its only advantage having been removed. bruh
again, the unstabilized is doing far more lifting than it should be.
yes the dca is unstabilized but at the same time it is. its gun traverse speeds are so high theyre acting like bad stabilizers so effectively the DCA is stabilized. as such it was a slightly worse gepard with better gun placement, with 4 times the apds, as for its br placement, gaijin rarely if ever alter a vehicles br after a nerf/buff, they wait to see if the change even did anything in the first place, which with the apti fragmentation buff these guns received, is unlikely to have changed anything with the DCA’s performance.
