Why doesnt the mosquito Mk.VI get the 4000lbs bomb?

why does the mosquito Mk.VI get the 4000 pound bomb? unless im mistaken it was able to carry it from images ive seen online (could be fake) but im still interested in the topic considering its a strike wouldn’t it make sense for it to get it? (or maybe add a bomber variant)

It did, the issue is that we have the night fighter variant and anti tank gun variant of the Mosquito. We currently do not have a true light bomber variant of the mosqutio and it would be a LOT of fun to get . With the introduction of Split BRs, it would be easy to add now, as it can have a ARB BR of around 2.7 (would need to be low, with no guns, only speed for defence) but a GRB rating of 5.0-5.3 (small, agile platform with a 4k cookie)

Some really good videos on the History of the Mosqutio and its different variants

that makes a lot of sense actually, i forget that there was a designated variant of the mosi that was bombs only.

also might i just add you have been answering a good few of my questions on here, thanks for your time

Your welcome

May or may not still get a bomber variant, it would be fun for sure!

Main concerns Devs might have would be BR placement / game balance and the fact it had no defensive weaponry which maybe needed for certain BR placements…

Don’t forget that the Canberra / B-57A, & F-117 for example are implemented, lacking (A2A) defensive armament isn’t that much of a roadblock.

Why not BR 1.7? Seriously man - look at all other bombers without defensive armament and you see that you are completely out of touch with reality.

Gaijin doesn’t care about defensive guns or not - otherwise they would offer much more convienient BRs for the 6.3 Arado and others…

The sole exception might be offering the Mossie in question as a broken premium plane like the Wyvern which pollutes Air RB lobbies - but what do you want with a single drop plane - you can kill one base - and then?

I just took the BR of the Mosquito FB MKXVIII at 3.0 and reduced its BR a little more. This is Gaijin we are talking about. Bomb load is more than suffecient for Gaijin to justify a higher BR even if the defensive loadout doesnt exist.

Look at the Buc S2 at 9.3 being weaker in A2A combat than many 8.3/8.7 aircraft.

But also if you look at the Beufort Mk VIII at 1.7, the Mosquto at 3.0 is already 150 kph faster and the proper bomber version would probably be a little faster still with less drag. Whilst at the same time having a bigger bomb load from what I understand. I never really consider the Beauforts all that well armed

Exactly. Assuming it got air spawn, was able to hit and kill a base and then run away from everything with ease. Maybe before they even got close. Do you really think it would stay a low BR for long?

2.3/2.7 is what im expecting for an aircraft that can probably take out at least one base and be fast enough to outpace most aircraft at its BR, but not all.

Basically a Ju-288C without turrets

RTB to go again? Like basically every single ground attack aircraft already in game

Besides there is more than just ARB in game.

Mossie with such a bomb load would make a really valuable CAS aircraft for both GRB and NAB/NRB and be a lot of fun imo in ASB. Especially as the Mosqutios get a cockpit unlike a lot of WW2 bombers

Not sure if you got my underlying point:

So if we have a common understanding that bomber BRs are a result of potential and (to minor degree) actual damage output it seems more than highly unlikely that you will see it below a Air RB BR of 3.3.

My reference to “and then” was clearly aimed at the lousy climb rate. So even your top speed at low level is rather high almost every fighter (even at 2.7) can easily outclimb it and can catch it in a dive.

Regarding your reference to other modes:

I always said that the pure bomber version is missing - and i referred to Air RB only.

They are jet aircraft tho

Perhaps though I think the same principle applies. Jets like the Buc S1, F-117 and even to a degree the Canbera are slower than the fighters they face and it’s not a huge issue. And they are facing missiles. Buc S1 is notable as it doesn’t even get air spawn.

Also, the Lancaster’s barely have a recognisable defensive loadout and seem to be entirely balanced around their bomb load

thats fair but at the same time the mossi at its time irl was stupid fast compaired to most other aircraft at the time, at a lower br it could be really good because of speed alone

yeah i have the bucc s.1, on some maps with mountains at the end of the runway it literally cant take off without hitting a wall

also another question about the mosquitos we are getting in the next update, the Denmark one got the British night fighter variant with the radar, any chance that will come to the home country?

Hard to say… best bet might be to make a suggestion

The Devs like to keep things somewhat unique, so may not see a carbon copy and there may not be a gap for it to fill… however if you make a suggestion about a similar variant, that might be taken into consideration

Based upon the dev stream. I think a bomber variant was heavily hinted at coming next major (Oct) and I think all suggestions are already up for the pure bomber variant. (Even the one that drops a bouncing bomb)

We are just at the mercy of Gaijin putting it at a reasonable BR

Britain is confirmed to be getting the NF.Ii (F.II with radar) and TR.33 (FB.VI with torpedo and naval mods inc radar)

Note the Norwegian F.II is a typical Gaijjn fudge as they wrre flown under RAF control and not RNoAF.

An 'interesting ’ variabt will artive probably in November. No real news but I would bet on a B.IV, maybe with optional 4000lb modification. Then its on to begging for later 2 stage merlin piwered varinats.

I do wonder if we might skip the MK4 and go straight to the later variant with the engine upgrade to offset the lack of guns.

I doubt it, mainly because it would only need a new nose so saving time and £€$¥ in dev costs.

Save the later engines for next year and the inevitable premiums.
