Why do Relict and Contact-5 have equivalent protection on tank sides?

This is Duplet-2M, not Nizh-1M. ХСЧКВ-34 = Duplet. ХСЧКВ-19 = Nizh.

Nizh reactive elements are smaller than Duplet elements.

And the tiles are shorter and smaller.

Common misconception that Duplet-2M is just Nizh-1M stacked over and over again on top of itself, but there are some differences in the tiles. Mostly because Nizh-1M needs to fit inside Kontakt-1 cases and Duplet gets dedicated cases. Below we see a size comparison between Nizh and 4S20, in which they have about the same area, Nizh is just taller.

For a final comparison, Nizh, Duplet, and 4S20 on order from left to right.

There’s a quick rundown on the differences between Ukrainian ERA.

Now for the thing of how ERA preforms in game, I think Gaijin really does a bad job with modeling it, and this goes for most ERA. It is heavily dependent on the angle of impact for the performance of the tile. A flat side impact would have the performance drop drastically compared to one of a, say, 60 degree angle. With a dart, there would likely be destabilization of the round at worst, and maybe the loss of some of the fins from a flyer plate, but even so, it’s not that major of a difference, which is why I do say ERA overperforms in game compared to how it should, but it’s a modeling thing more than anything. It should be more dependent on the angle rather than being a disposable 120 millimeter thick RHA block flat and only getting even better at angles and having way too good a 180 degree impact angle performance.

unironically gaijin didnt model NATO era the same

Not really.
Both ХСЧКВ-19&34 are NIZH(if put into single layer). Duplet is tandem installation into 2+ layers.
Best way to say would be like that.

Duplet

Wasnt able to find similar type picture for nizh, so it would be bulat’s UFP(you still can see that it’s into single layer)

You still can put both ХСЧКВ19 and ХСЧКВ34 into K-1 case, but it will act like shitty Russian ERA.
Theyre both have their dedicated boxes, to be not useless, have armor(armor for ERA, right) from MG and other stuff. ХСЧКВ has quite sensetive explosive inside, so it needs protection.

Also theyre used on different locations(19&34) - 19 mostly on turret top due to impact angle, 34 on UFP, sides, turret front.

As I said in my post, there are changes between Duplet-2M and Nizh-1M, especially in the charges that they use.

Screenshot 2025-06-09 200114

The top charge is from Nizh-1M while the bottom is from Duplet-2M, which is significantly larger than the Nizh-1M charge. Already from this increase in the height of the tile from the bigger charge, we can tell Duplet-2M won’t fit into a standard Kontakt-1 case, Nizh-1M already barely fits.

ХСЧКВ-34 and 19 are charges. Duplet is installation in multiple plates, Nizh in single.

have you seen entire video, from which that picture(screenshot) was taken? that’s ХСЧКВ-19&34 as seen in video. ERA charges themselves(ХСЧКВ) doesnt have naming like nizh or duplet. nizh and duplet are installations of ХСЧКВ in different forms.

ХСЧКВ-34(which you try to call as duplet)
SR said so, i cant see any reason why it wouldnt. aswell as information about ХСЧКВ-34 - all block are 36 ±1.5mm. K-1 boxes can be different, but from quick google search it tells that UFP&TurretFront ones are 40+MM.
Keep in mind, that K-1 installation is quite… funny. and it’s not only ERA charge
