When I play nations like Germany or Russia at top tier, I am bewildered by how unkillable you feel. It’s actually insane how unbalanced top tier is.
Even if Gaijin goes for a Balance over Realistic approach, you can’t honestly tell me that the Challenger, Merkava, Ariete, Leclerc, etc can’t stop DM33 reliably.
I’m genuinely baffled by how poorly they modelled the Merkava’s armour. At least the Chally can tank otherwise penetrating shots to the turret cheek, and Italy now has a 2A7, so they can’t fully complain anymore unless they want to defend the Ariete. I haven’t checked the Leclerc in a while, so I can’t say much about that atm.
At the moment there are quite a lot of bugs when it comes to losing the tank, just from destroying the ammunition to overpressure on the side where the cameras are with a 35mm HE, the hull should at least have the same values as the Mk4…
They have nothing special going for them aside for like reverse speed. Being the best protected MBTs would actually make them special and unique from all the other MBTs
As seen here, you can tell that the upper sides are missing some armor since it’s hollow between the external NERA and the 50mm internal plate. There’s around 400mm LOS or so of angled composite missing.
I don’t have real data on the armor, but with 60+ tons (without turret) it should be much more protected on the sides. Furthermore, on the sides the armor has a good angle of inclination so it should be even much stronger. Gaijin should definitely fix this thing and raise it to 11 or 11.3, since Israel doesn’t have a damn 10.3 lineup and Chaparral sucks.
