(Yet nah, it’s 80 tons of air apparently huh)

that image just tells it all, ngl. On the T-series, there just isn’t that much armour on the turret. On the Leo it makes sense, but the Merkava visually has so much more mass and it just doesn’t make sense that its so poorly armoured in game.

Spoiler

Merkava Mk.4 should be a morbidly obese thing that struggles to move forward but is also extremely difficult to kill. Basically, the “Super Heavy Tank” of MBTs.

Not only would this make it authentic to its real life self, but also provide a new layer of dynamism and variety to Top Tier.

When people saw a Merkava, they would be like: “OH DAMN, ONE OF THOSE!”, instead of “ah, yes, just another subpar minor nation unprotected thing I can just kill with ease.”

I would be all for a 18 hp/t, 80 ton Merkava Mk.4 if it had a 700mm KE turret and a 550mm KE hull (without counting the powerplant and its bulkhead reinforcement).

Ikr, the videos of it moving around makes it look like a house on wheels lmao. (Also, is it just me, or do engines provide absolutely zero KE protection? Like I mean zero, not just “ohhhh it does nothing bc I got penned through it”, like I mean low caliber apds and Apfsds rounds have no problem going straight through it and creating even more spall? Anyone else feel this way?) But yeah, hopefully we get something that actually new and unique, rather than a massive profile tank with a round, reload, protection, and mobility that isn’t special in any way.

Meanwhile nah, gaijoobles just says that it’s obviously the tank crew that has all that weight and the tank is made of air.
They obviously must have been feeding the tank crews some Burger King from the air delivery supply or something to make it weigh so much!1!1!!!

Totally real Israeli aid package from the US for the Israeli tankers to help maintain the Merk mk.4’s weight :P (sarcasm, unrelated to ongoing conflicts, don’t ban plez)

Merkava Turret face should be stronger. Even the projected thickness Gaijin had for it originally was around 750 KE.

Difficult to kill, but it’s actually not that slow IRL. They can get around pretty quickly.

This would be nice. Also Ground RB 13.0 would help.

Real

Hull should probably be a bit thicker than 550. The Front Plate isn’t much thinner than that of a Russian UFP while haver much more modern armor. IMO, even if it’s for balance, the UFP should be 600 minimum.

Fyi, leopard armor is already underperforming due to balancing, so 750mm turret for the merc is prob max we’re going to see sadly, and do you have any sources? Thats the only thing stopping merkavas from being accurate… sources… 😭

im pretty sure it’s already acknowledge 2 years ago but they haven’t fixed it

My source is that it’s 80 tons, can stop a Kornet frontally reliably, has armor less than 20 years old compared to the Abrams and Leopard’s 40–50-year-old armor, and is 600-800mm LOS in thickness.

If it was just normal RHA, it would be better than the Merkava’s armor Kinetically. That’s wrong on so many levels.

Please submit a bug report. Id rather have my merk crawl around then get lolpenned by every single goddamn thing.

It is known that those sides can stop 650mm tandem at the very least, so I’d appreciate they do that in-game.

I’m very brain dead. I don’t think that would be a good idea for me to do, however, I will gladly share said sources here for anyone who wants to actually do so lol

This is the IDF’s official Channel. The title translating from Hebrew opens the question of how a vehicle of 80 tons can be moved around. 36 seconds in, it also says “80 tons”, though I don’t speak Hebrew. This itself should be enough evidence, not gonna lie.

הכירו את טנק המערכה מרכבה סימן 4 - YouTube

2 minutes and 30 seconds in claims the Merkava 4M is 80 tons.

מ"הגרוטאות" למרצדס: הלוחמים ממבצע קדש נכנסו לטנקים החדישים ביותר (ynet.co.il)

1 minute and 3 seconds into the video on this Israeli page refers to the vehicle as 82 tons.

In my humble opinion, this is more than enough evidence. Unfortunately, it’s hard to say if Gaijin would agree. The IDF themselves refer to it as 80-82 tons on their socials.

D-tech and AMAP in Leos definitely isnt 40 years old.

No, but the internal armor is much older.

Unless I’m wrong, only the add on armor is D tech. The internal armor of a 2A7 is still the same as that of a 2A4, no?

Even then, the Israeli SLERA armor is a much more aggressive. It’s larger and costs more to build. Considering the Bundeswehr has issues modernizing compared to Israel, I doubt their armor is more effective.

So what do you say? should i open a report about it?

I’d personally suggest someone with more insight into Israel and Hebrew did it. I can’t really read Hebrew and only understand small phrases. If it wasn’t for older mentions of these, I wouldn’t have found them.

Im a Merkava gunner, but i cant really provide legit sources cuz they arent declassified. I can only use what you use.

The ones from the IDF’s social media themselves should be enough proof to Gaijin theoretically.

I’d say go for it. They might be enough to convince them with.

Also, slight side note, if you have any evidence of the Namer’s side armor being stronger than it is in-game, I’d appreciate that.

An up-close of the Namer’s rear door would be nice as well. Gaijin seems to think it’s hollow.

Do you have any damaged Namer side armour photos?
