I’m comparing it to what I consider one of the best mechanical radars I’ve used to far
MiG-29SMT/M/K’s radar or Zhuk-M iirc
Better gimbal, less ghosting or schizo issues and you do get a basic form of nctr
Then if we consider the base Euro’s radar br for br its just objectively terrible no matter how you look at it.
I genuinely consider the super hornet better for air RB since it gets aesa with better missile kit

CAPTOR-M has one of the lowest scan volumes out of any M-Scan radar, only thing lower is the Gripen Cs radar.
the CAPTOR-M also has some incredible levels of glitchyness where it will just randomly stop tracking the target, or fail to detect the target even after 4-5 passes of its radar.
Its just not a healthy radar at the moment, and after the AESA was added, there was no incentive left to get it fixed, which leaves it in limbo.
The radar randomly dropping the target could be fixed via P-Track, which would means that up to 6 targets could be updated every 2 seconds, regardless of what scan mode the radar was in.
The radar just not detecting things needs to be fxied.
Then coupled with the 200 target TWS PIRATE finding things for the radar to then snap to… It could be one of the best M-Scans, the perfect bridge between M-Scan and AESA. But right here right now… Its a pointless aircraft, because its too much of a chore at best, too weak at worse to ever pick over the AESA Typhoon.
With decompression, and the AESA getting ASRAAM and Meteors… It would be worth taking again, but even then, still needs fixes

NCTR is only useful if the radar can find a target in the first place, or maintain the lock to guide something onto the target afterwards

Yea but I thinks it’s more to the point that it’s ridiculous that for almost two years now, the rafale has been bullying top tier, and for almost a year now the eurofighter, and sm2 have also been bullying everyone as well. And for that whole entire time there have been tech trees that don’t get the same treatment. This shouldn’t be dragging on for so long now, and I think people are annoyed that as soon the f15ex comes out, it will only be good for a solid month before next gen missiles and 5th gen possibly come and pretty much take away the f15’s only strength. Just like what happened to f15e.
