What's this funny lightbulb in some US and German WW2 Fighters and bombers?

So I see a lot of this funny light bulb on the wings of some planes like the HE-111 (all) P-51-10C, and many more. What’s the purpose of this and why is it not functional in WT?

Landing Light

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd why are they not functional in WT sim?

landing light

cause they haven’t found a need to make them work yet (they should though)

IMO it’ll be handy (not that I know how to land in SIM :6)

its funny how you said bombers as if they still existed in the game. but yes this is just landing lights

OK. nice

then what about the funny ring thing on the F4U’s nose that flapps up like flaps.

I assume you’re talking about the cooling flaps. They open to allow the engine to get more airflow to cool it at the expense of drag.

Then can you control them (and why are they opening at higher alt? Is it becoz of engines overheating at higher alts?)

You can using MEC.

Here’s a good MEC tutorial: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/7u45r3/manual_engine_controls_guide_a_comprehensive/

Sim-oriented, but also nice:

And have a video on the F4U-4 specifically:
