I found out that, even in its simplest form of one launch vehicle, it has a stupid amount of range from in DCS, with its radar carrier system though, like the multivehicle SAM systems recently added, it almost doubles, so I’d really enjoy it in the Russian and Swedish tech tree as well.
Buk is proper medium range SAM. Much of what we have in game at present falls more into the short range case, at least in current configuration.

Depends on the missile, think the Buk has access to a 30km one for shorter range
Sure you can, but that is at least several months of waiting, and like I said, not tech tree
IRL the IRIS-T SLM is also a proper medium range SAM, in game it’s missiles are modeled wrong, 40km isn’t it’s MAX range, that’s it’s EFFECTIVE range, it can still hit far beyond on the right target
Guess we should keep our fingers crossed that Finland may offer something useful which is pretty rare given the Elde was DOA lol.
That could change with future BR changes. Lots of cheering and complaining between the ground enjoyers and the “CAS bloc” since the update. We’ll see what the devs do with their statistiks after this.
