What can save American top tier air?

open the spoiler…

Nice to see the AIM-260 finally in the open. I doubt we’ll get any solid specs or performance data that will let Gaijin properly model it but I hope we see something in game.

As you know, each AIM 120 gets worse, so obviously this one will be worse than the AIM 120A

It only has rear fins so it will pull 4 Gs max.

Spoofed by one chaff like it’s an AIM 9B

Considering how classified the aim260 was as program i wager we’ll see alot more in the coming months pictures coming out on aircraft might mean its going to see some more widespread employment.

Since it is supposed to be a missile to replace the AMRAAM, all US-made fighter jets will likely carry the 260.

Even F-16? IIRC, F-15EX, F-22 and F-35 were supposed to carry them and jets like F-16 were not planned to.

Since they recently extended the F-16 life they might certify them alongside the others just to have the option on the flightline.

Its made to fit the same form factor as the amraam, f-16s are not frontline fighters, but no reason why they couldnt carry aim260 of need be.

Cant you see the clip design differences between both missiles?

The missile you posted is significantly less clipped compare to missile on Super Hornet.

its satire… you would know if you opened the spoiler

The AIM-260 doesn’t look too different from the AIM-120, so it’s not too crazy to assume (even from a cost-saving POV, shocking discovery for the USA, I know) that they’ll eventually be cleared on all other aircraft too

Cmon Lockheed, release the missile specs so gaijin can do the funny

there is no way the aim260 will not become standard on all aircraft eventually, its just a matter of building stocks and ramping production, its going to take a while though espcially cause amraam production isnt stopping anytime soo, the us still believes the aim120d3 is enough for most modern threats

if you hadn’t seen it lol

yep, it will likely be cleared on basically everything but i expect stuff like USMC Hornets and USAF F-16’s and F-15C’s will mostly run AIM-120D’s until retirement

how is it worse than the F-15C?

definitely not 13.0 material

here the official stated supercruise speed is Mach 1.76. could be understated but that still puts it a good bit above every other fighter. could also be in a supersonic cruise setting and not actually full mil power and on a peacetime engine trim

I’m confused, what makes this official?
