What aircraft can Russia get to "level the playing field" with the newest top tier jets?

Su-30SM has been leaked already

I’m sure there is some decent video analysis. The issue is with all the ways you can create unrealistic conditions to make a plane perform better.

Chuck Yeager was a test pilot. And back when he was an F-86 pilot he was in a squadron transitioning from the A or E model to the F with the better engine. He went up in the older model with a buddy in the newer model and clean outran him. His buddy thought the F was a lemon, but, in fact, Yeager had his flight crew tighten the A model engine up to a safe-ish and unsustainable state the night before that would temporarily give the A engine better performance than the F. He knew what he could get away with for one flight because he is a test pilot.

It’s why airshow stuff is suspect, who knows what mods that make the plane not combat capable they used to make it look good. It also requires non-ideal video footage analysis. The potential inaccuracies are real and therefore hard to base stuff on.

To be fair, I don’t have a problem with them using that analysis. The game is inaccurate enough that something like that could be great.

But you know everything about Su-57, lol!

Except there is zero evidence that the Su-27s used at airshows were specialized 1 off models with lighter airframes or more powerful engines.

There is also HUD footage of Su-27 that shows speed and heading. A rough idea of speed bleed can be extrapolated from that.

There are also lift/drag simulations of Su-33 style airfeame; probably 1:1 dimensional copy. And because of stat shark…lift/drag diagrams can be extrapolated from game files. The real lift/drag diagram does not come even remotely close to the in-game lift/drag diagram.

Furthermore we have results of Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT / Official nerd speak for mock dogfights) and we know that the Su-27 is capable of defeating the Gripen in some unspecified WvR scenario while losing in some unspecified BvR scenarios.

On top of that…the plane does not match its 5G turn acceleration values according to it’s flight manual. In terms of the specific excess power in gaining turns…it’s on average about 15% short of the values specified in its own flight manual.

+1 on this, the same applies to their ground vehicles like the T-14.

Do you remember what happened with it in 1999?

Perfect reasonable assumption, lol! Do you have any facts?

Could you please turn off propaganda.

What makes you think the reality matches what you think?

Quite literally a miracle, combined with command incompetence of running a perfectly predictable flight path.

Basic logic…? The US MIC is absolutely going to develop significantly beyond what the F-117 could do - a reminder that the gap between the F-117 and the F-35 is the same gap as between the MiG-19 and the F-15.

Su-30SM, it will be up to par with what we are receiving this update.

Oh I’m sure the American arms industry has no corruption nor outlandish claims.

Is there corruption? Abso-fuckin-lutely, I wont even pretend to deny it. However, overall they are generally less corrupt and make those claims less often then russia.

Not really. Soviet Russia was incredibly corrupt compared, however, after the fall of the USSR they are relatively on par with the state of corruption in the US acquisition and development processes. Especially if audits of the American system is anything to go by.

Bricks and glass houses. I’m no fan of either of you lot, just inclined towards maintaining some level of honesty in the discourse.

Russia, on the other hand, is corruption-riddled to the extreme in their military and MIC and is well known for making outlandish claims about their equipment.

Looks at Bradley. F-35 program budgeting, timeline extension, and project data leaks. Raytheon Patriot lawsuit. Pentagon constantly failing audits. The average cost of non-COTS maintenance items.

Let’s be real here, there’s plenty to go around for most countries.

Here, a video by an ex-Rafale pilot who talks about things in a much more nuanced way than the standard american propaganda :

I’d recommend you give it a watch, because his position on the plane is very interesting. There’s a lot we don’t know about the plane, and probably will never know, but calling it a “paper tiger” is a fool assumption.

Su-27SM is officially on-par with F-15C/ outside not having a narrow search mode for TWS.

just add their fox 3 equivalent missiles and unfuck the radars

It was also flown by Sukhoi Jesus.

Fixing the R-77’s FM would be a decent enough start.
