War Thunder Battle Pass – From Premium Content to Minimal Rewards
When the first Battle Pass launched in December 2020, War Thunder’s top ground vehicles had a maximum Battle Rating of 10.7, and the tech tree ended at Rank VII.
Back then, the Battle Pass felt like a real event — it offered variety, value, and a fair sense of progression.
The very first season included four exclusive vehicles:
]one premium tank
one aircraft
one ship
one additional ground vehicle
Each branch received meaningful content, and the effort to complete the pass was well balanced with the rewards.
Today, the situation looks very different.
The maximum BR has increased to 12.7 for ground vehicles and 14.3 for aircraft, and the game now goes up to Rank VIII.
The grind is much longer and more complex — but the Battle Pass now offers only two vehicles and a low-tier vehicle coupon, usually for the cheapest items in the store.
Value comparison:
Season I (2020): 100% value baseline
Current Season (2025): around 40–45% of that value
Players now have to invest more time for fewer rewards, which makes the modern Battle Pass feel more like a filler than a celebration.
Gaijin keeps raising the BR cap and adding higher ranks, but the Battle Pass rewards haven’t scaled accordingly.
It would be fair if the value and reward structure evolved with the game — not in the opposite direction.
Summary:
The first Battle Pass celebrated War Thunder’s diversity and rewarded the effort.
The current Battle Pass feels like a minimal package with lower value despite higher grind requirements.

Honestly i don’t even care about the old 4 vehicle battle pass, i can see how this model was unsustainable long term. Hell, i don’t even mind there only being 2 new vehicles.
But for the love of god, if you want to give out only 2 vehicles instead of 4, at least make those 2 any interesting. Scraping the BP out of all meaningful rewards and then setting a copypaste slop like french M46 or butchered unhistorical crap like new Re 2005 VDM as the main reward is just insulting.
If we kept getting rewards like A-1H, M551 76, Cent mk 2, M6A2E1 or whatever i would still buy the BP.
But sadly i am not spending 2000 GE + effort to complete all the quests for whatever they try offering us now

It’s standard enshitificatiln. You launch something at very high value so people get really excited. Once they’re locked in, you start slowly reducing the value you’re offering so that your relative margin increases. Companies do this stuff all the time - think Amazon and its Black Friday sales.

I ask Snail to make a pack (battlepass or just in the store) with all the pin-ups from the thematic series (like “Lady Death”, “Muerte”). Is this even possible?

Been using Re 2005 because I bought Tigris in sale. I forgot how damn good it is. I only use it in GRB, but it just dunks on the majority of things you’ll ever face. Love it. Even if BP 2005 is slightly worse, it’ll be good fun.

@Thodin here is the current Battlepass thread. I would suggest that you delete your question in that other thread since it doesn’t apply to that old BP (Your question that I quoted will still stay in my reply here, since it is a quote and not a link.) My reply to your Light Rocket task question:
First, the SK-5 rockets are under 5kg, many of these planes have ballistic computers too, like the Su-25K etc (and carry a LOT of them.) Organize the Rank column on the right to see which ones are lowest if you want to find as lowest of BR as possible.
Other options for the same rockets are the Mig-15 bis ISh or Su-7BKL if you don’t have that premium Mig. Both have a rocket ballistic computer and are fairly low BR.
Also note that it does not have to be in GRB, you can do it in Air AB/RB/SB, or even Naval if you want to try that. I usually just do Air battles for these unguided rocket tasks and just head on enemies with something that has a ton of unguided rockets, like the Su-25’s.
Or for the medium/larger rockets the Phantoms: Mighty Mouse/Zuni’s. The A-10’s can also work, carry a ton of hydras (none of those will work for the light rocket task though) The Russian SK-5’s are the only ones I know off hand that are small enough for the light rockets task.

EDIT #2: And if you are crazy and want to use something without a ballistic computer but is much lower BR and still a jet, a few of the Me 262’s have rockets that are smol enough, the R4M’s:

Yeah I personally wouldn’t even attempt it with the Me 262’s lol, just wanted to mention in case SOMEONE wanted to try 😂 I am really not good using rockets without ballistic computers (THOUGH for Air battles the Me 262’s might not be as bad as trying it in GRB.)
I’ve tried to learn how to aim unguided rockets without ballistic computers on and off over the years but my brain just does not want to cooperate 😭 That is also a reason why I just prefer doing these rocket tasks in Air Battles instead of Ground Battles. But everyone has their own preferences 🙂

I´m playing AB only so I got the lead indicator but it´s more a guess. The other thing is I absolutly don´t like all that modern stuff. Early cold war is ok but everthings afterwards is a big NO NO. Perhaps I just ignore that task.
I see that you have the A-4E Early unlocked, it has both the Mighty Mouse and Zuni rockets, MM’s will work for Medium Rockets task, and the Zuni’s will work for the Heavy Rockets task. Did you already complete those two parts of the Meta Task? If so, then yeah the Me 262’s might be your only option for the Light Rockets task.
I will glance for a little bit and see if there are any other Tier 3+ planes that have smol enough rockets, that you also have unlocked.
Nope, nothing that is Tier 3+ outside of what I already posted previously. Dang. I think that the Me 262’s will be your only option that you have unlocked already.
Yup, that is a shame. Other threads talking about how they should increase the Light Rockets task to even 5.05kg or 5.10kg, would open up a lot of other options. Or even increase it enough so that the Mighty Mouse rockets count. I agree. The options for the Light Rockets is very limited, especially for players who are new and/or do not play higher Tiers/BR’s/Jets etc because they just do not enjoy the higher ranked stuff.

I got the medium and heavy rockets task done. I hoped the Panzerblitz would do the trick for the light rockets but they´re just a bit to heavy.
The 109 F-2 has small rockets but since it always has to be rank 3 this doesn´t work either.

I took Me262 Jabo with R4M air to air anti-Pulk rockets. In GRB. I missiled down 2 planes and one open top vehicle. No issues. Vs like 40 attempts with first spawn Mi-8 heli and SK pods, which just don’t work. Just glad I don’t care for my stats. This is hilarious.
Mid sized rockets: Panzerblitz.
Large ones, Me110 G-2 and 4x Werfers
(Hint: Set your map from air to ground mode). Circle over that ground RB map. Watch for markers. Ignore tank symbols. When a TD or SPAA symbol blinks, dive down an rocket it. Its most likely a light and / or open top. Like M10 TD etc etc. This way you don’t waste yourself to armored tanks).

Yep, thought the same. They should skip rank III requirements for these kind of special tasks. Weak weapons and ordnance are usually found at lower tiers.
