War Thunders fOX 3 missiles are wrong

Correct

Thats just PL-12 and AAM-4 being reduced down to Aim-120B level performance so they could be added alongside other Fox-3s. They should be more like Aim-120Cs but they didnt want to leap frog too far ahead. The question is gunna be what they do when Aim-120Cs are added

Buff the missiles and keep them in line with the Aim-120C

Thats too sensible for Gaijin

Get ready for PL-12(M) and AAM-4(M) variants

They can either buff both of them, and give lower BR Chinese fighters SD-10 instead.
Or they can give China PL-12A with claimed 120km of range
Japan can get theoretical AAM-4 variant that has AAM-4B rocket motor but no AESA.
After all nothing has stopped Gaijin from making things up.

If they are feeling generous, maybe Gaijin will give AAM-4B outright when F-2 eventually comes to the game.

Effective against what though?

Big difference between hitting a Tu95 flying straight, level and slow up at 35,000ft from 80km away, vs hitting a maneuvering Fighter jet who’s cranking your missile down into dense air, at Mach 1.5, from 80km away.

Always take listed ranges with a mountain of salt. Just because something is effective against ‘x’ doesn’t mean it has the energy to be effective against ‘y’.

No, the PL-12 is underperforming and not for a balancing factor unless I’ve missed out on something. At extended ranges the PL-12 wobbles like crazy bleeding a substantial amount of speed putting it below even the AIM-120A which is should be superior to.

The AAM-4 is also underperforming as well if I recall but I’m not sure exactly where.

I think they should buff every fox 3 but usa with real range

Or maybe keep everything entirely historical including missile ranges and adjust planes which overperform or underperform with BR changes. Move the F-15E and other great vehicles to 14.0 and move vehicles like the SHAR FA.2 and Tornado F.3 Late down a step.

They cant do that, some planes will over perform by faar and i think they need to shrink the br for less waiting and full lobbys.

Legit never seen a single person calling for both compression and bigger lobbies at top tier.

(Until now)

Clearly you’ve never used the PL-12
(Or AAM-3 for that matter, with longer range and better turn off the rail)

I would love to see realistic and historycal game mode but in actual RB its literally impossible. You can give me a raffale in 11.0 but i dont think player will accept that. Or a maus in 4.0

Someone get bro out the kitchen 😭😭

Raffale was introduce into the army in may 2000 and maus is a ww2 tank? Raffale A 1986…

Barely. More like a ‘44-‘45 pipe dream than anything.

Shouldn’t be fighting early / mid war stuff.

probably unnerf the missiles and have giant gaps, or fill what would be giant gaps with other nations copypasted stuff

Actually all fox-1 missiles up to 3 have range problems because they have a massive drag that nerfs their real range, gaijin did this I think because they are afraid that the people in the portfolio will die too quickly, apart from this it is because the missiles have scopes invented by gaijin because they do not know how to balance and much less introduce new weapons

Nothing changed yet

Russian fox 1 and 2 max theoric range: 30km (80km for fox 2 as pple told me with r77)
USA fox 3 80% of max theoric range: 80km
French fox 3 18% of max theoric range: 15 to 25km and not 60 to 80km like stated everywhere on official documents.

I know what you can find online, even on military websites are not accurate and stats are kept secret but gaijin made their models on those same documents.
I’m not complaining about dying from them i know how to defend, but going sim and having usa planes spamming at 60km i had a game where i defendend for straight 30 minutes, its not fun. I just wish they could balance other fox 3.

Please share the other nations so we can compare

The R-27 and R-77 have more drag than the AIM-120s hence the lower range, just like IRL.
Infact the first versions R-77 were so bad due the huge fins acting like a airbrake, so many pilots in the operation nations prefered the R-27s
