War Thunder: The Great War!

Very very true.
I often play Rise of Flight (obviously a sim, and not real life, but still), which has very well researched flight models.

Both fighters in the event fly exactly like the Fokker Eindecker III, even though both planes are much better.

In real life, the Fokker D.VII had a low stall speed, and didnt really spin when eventually stalling. It also had the ability to “hang on its propeller” for a short time, able to shoot a poor unsuspecting fella from below.

Please allow us to keep the fighters. SPAD S.XIII and Fokker D.VII

Heh. This event has granted me a talisman for Pz IIIj. Not really needed, but still something nice.
Thanks game.

exactly what I did :D
The only downside is that I use up 44 rounds very quickly, so it’s not enough to last the whole battle.

What I disliked:

  • Making the milk truck (Garford) the unit with best mobility (even over trenches, should be impossible), best armor, best gun/ammo, best camoflage (all other tanks are easy to spot). I stopped playing tanks at the end, cause this is rediculous.

  • Infantry played no role. All were sitting back and flank/sniped.

  • The Zeppelin is too easy to shot down and too hard to steer. Also spawned too low.

  • The bomber is crazy tanky and just op also in air to air. What crazy force multiplier.

  • Player artillery strikes should have been disabled. WW1 tanks are slow and very vulnerable to these. When a player casts the strike, you often cant escape. Another reason to just play Garland.

  • I already mentioned it, but painting tanks in shiny colors while the super rat vehicle Garland get dark green is just the last straw.

  • Gajin plz talk to your staff and stop the habbit to make light speed vehicles always the strongest ones. I never understood why trucks and racer tincans always dominate tanks. Its War Thunders biggest issue.

After some days, balance is better than in the beginning.
Garford is indeed the new META, and it’s a shame.

Models are still awesome, planes are beauties (WE WANT TO KEEP THEM!)

Just had a surprise after my first Empire game today… Not really useful, but I lol’ed.
A talisman for any other would have been better however…

garford breaks this gamemode so much I consider not obtaining the 2 remaining stars just because those rats are so annoying
I’m pretty sure that garford never saw combat on german western front so as always we get russian propaganda with fake stats russian vehicle

I wish I could keep the Fokker XD

also rangefinders are very bugged, they often say “300” but the actual distance is 750

Snapshot from the Great War gamemode, my last match. Almost all busy ratting enemy players in Garfords. No one cares about trench warfare and zones. Just camping an killing. Thats what the gamemode became after Garford stopped interacting with the ground terrain types. Hovering over trenches which are like double as wide than Garford’s wheels are. Also it doesn’t lose speed when breaking through barriers/barbed wire. Just the deepest mud slows you down, a bit. I don’t get it. They really killed the whole WW1 game mode with it.

I’d like to keep the Zeppelin. Ger has no air reward. And also no reward for the Jutland Battle event. Thats a bit lame.

I got one for the He-100D-1

Why?!? They’re garbage.

That’s because their flight model is unrealistic

They would still be garbage.

An reproduction of the Fokker D.VII. incorporates original engine and parts.

How odd… It doesn’t fall from the sky after the smallest turn… It seems to actually retain energy!
