Maybe I missed it on day#1, but now there are also dirt roads through the no mans land, you can quickly traverse over to the enemy side and camp their lines from behind. Totally WW1-like^^ Driveble roads allowing Garfords to speed up where supposedly should be just impassable mud, impact craters, barbed wire and trenches.
It gets one shot every time still.
no the garford is legit op because it’s:
1: much smaller so harder to hit (and hit’s don’t do anything since it’s peper thin)
2: much faster (as long as you’re driving it correctly)
3: is much tankier for no reason (it can’t be overpressured despite being thin enough to not trigger fuses) and is the only vehicle with an op he shell)
4: much stealthier thanks to it’s darker camo coupled with it’s very small size.
the only balancing factor is the terrible cross country performance and the poor penetration at range.
Agreed, I gave the Garford a try today and it’s easily the best 2nd vehicle of the event, it’s stealthy and its HE shell can 1 shot Chamonds and kill Mark V tanks with a good placed shot, good mobility, low silhouette, can lob shells behind cover and can flank on the edges of the map.
Whilst nothing can one shot it in return.
It didn’t take long and the WW1 event is like live server GRB. Light vehicles are the best. Use speed and and dirt roads to flank behind enemy lines and murder everyone from behind or from the side. I didn’t lost the Garland, despite I took two full main calibre hits. There’s not even a spawn warning circle, imho.
You laugh to all APHE shells, cause it does almost no damage. HE cant harm you as well. MGs also can’t pen :) While the three ‘tanks’ are not tanky at all …and slow…and have light colors…and have more reload time.
today i learnt the only weather europe had for a handful of years was rain, we all remember the Central Powers getting bogged down in the mudpits of Ukraine, right?
Yeah the Garford ruins the event for me, just like autocannon rats ruin the game. Why even add it in the first place ? It has no historical importance compared to the others.
Now you just get one shot not only by the A7V but also by a milk truck you can’t see
to make you spend money on “Aces of Thunder”
Because that’s like the only light tank that existed at the time. France went heavy, Brits went heave, Russians put artillery on a tractor.
It kills the match. Weak armor is absolutely the best armor and that strange HE shell with that much pen kills everything with one shot, bar A7 frontally.
Vice verca I just got stuck in front of an enemy A7 tank and it took 5 point blank shots to kill my Garford. Its open top, so one HE should overpressure it, but it does usually nothing. APHE doesn’t fuse and you need to needle all crew seperately.
Its doesn’t make alot sense and its not fair.
Best part of the mode IMO. God, how I wish there would be a modern Crimson Skies.
Weird, I can normally take out a Garford with one HE round. It’s those bloody A7Vs that can survive Armageddon and won’t die.
Leave it to War Thunder players to find ways of sucking the fun out of any game mode.
Even after a tremendous amount of buff at St Chammond, Entente forces are still losing like hell, just in the same way as France in 1940.
The winning rate feels like it becomes slightly higher and higher when every day passes, but they are still losing a lot more.
Can’t wait to see A7V and captured-Gaford storm London and Geroge V sign Unconditional Surrender with Willhelm II in Gaijin’s alternative reality WW1.
Entente Mk. V’s 6pdr cannon has 16g of explosive in APHE
while German Mk. IV’s upgun maxim cannon has 120g of explosive in their APHE?
(same gun with A7V)
with slightly better pen at the ‘marginal’ level.
Of course, every British-built thing needs to be worse than a German-captured one. :|
At least, both sides have almost same gaford :/
The Best armored vehicle at western front, ‘the artilery truck from east’
feels like real charade.
Unlike both St Chammond and Mk.V does, Gaford can punch quite pack of punch against A7V when successfully flanked.
Sad point is, Germans also can utilize same truck, and Allied tank has weaker armor than germans overall.
not for me - I’m getting 50/50 on both sides
They didn’t teach me that in history class. Maybe because my country ( the Netherlands) didn’t participate?
We did have a potato shortage tho.
feels like 3/7 to me.
better than 1/9 at day 1 though
Garford isn’t British - it is a Russian armoured car built on an imported American truck.
The correct name for is should be “Garford-Putilov”
48 were built, and at least 3 captured and used by the Germans. Others were captured and used by various eastern European states too.
