“choice” is really relative here. Choice of limited pre set options. Its really only the non custom profile pic thats good. The frames are meh and the few AI generated backgrounds are also just nothing really

Yes that is the point. I’m saying it’s a stupid point that misunderstands this player base and will lose them a small bit non-zero number of player sessions every night compared to what they’d have had without it because looking at some guy’s lizard avatar or whatever will cause players to go “meh” and do something else faster, while getting no added play offsets like you’d have gotten with my suggestions. This way they did it it can ONLY be a (small) net damper on overall participation.
You could say it’d be thin skinned to play fewer games because you don’t like seeing it and yeah, it is, but… It’s a game. And there’s lots of other games. It’s silly to inhibit one players dopamine response by showing iff the person dancing on their grave without enhancing someone else’s in return with some sort of payoff they can see, when you’re a game dev.

Oh, that’s so funny. Another interesting story about how the game will die, how players will leave just because changes are being made to the game that don’t match someone’s wishes.

You need to recalculate.
No one’s saying anything will die, stop being so melodramatic and emo over a silly player card you’ll never see anyway. I’m just saying, as a factual statement, tomorrow night there’ll be 100,000 players online instead of 101,000 (or whatever the number is) because some people got tired of being face stomped with avatars and quit a little faster than they would have before. For nothing in return for anyone else. That’s all. Just seems a waste when obviously better options for using avatars in game were available.
It’s just not what one would do if they knew much (or anything) about any principles of user-centric design.

This change looks like it has veritable, legitimate gameplay consequences.
These added playercards interfere with playing game modes where you aren’t using the mouse.

I think the update for Xbox players is bugged, it says they havent got everything downloaded (when each of them definitely do)

So recently I researched the T-62, and started researching the T-72A. This update changed where T-62 is in the tree and now I need to research T-55AMD first so I can buy it and proceed to T-72A. What bothers me is, how come there’s a grace period further down the line for the T-72B3A > T-90M, but not for T-62 > T-72A? I wouldn’t waste my time researching it, at best I’d like to get to the modern variants instead. So this is a welcome change, if not for the fact that I already spent my time grinding it and now am stuck with it against my will, where now it doesn’t advance me in the tech tree and neither did I really want it.
I’m reporting this as a bug, intentionally changing the tree without giving me the time to adapt is either a mistake or malevolent. Especially because I’m forced to grind an extra tank that wasn’t newly added.
