War Thunder Infantry: The Second Testing Phase!

you’re also not a representative of the community lmao. surface ships, submarines, helicopters, infantry are all parts of combined arms warfare and war thunder is a combined arms game. It was never a matter of if these things will come, it was WHEN will they come. That time has come now whether you like it or not. It’ll be a separate game mode as prior stated in dev logs and with that, nobody is forcing you to play it. People made the same complaints about naval and how nobody will play it, which tbf, not many do, but its a very niche tism where most play WoW instead.

I do not doubt that with the coming infantry game mode that it will open new ways for gaijin to produce copy paste and paid content, but it’s a free to play game, they gotta do something somewhere. The main thing is just how much these things cost. top tier aircraft and tanks are the price of AAA games, if that happens to literal guns, then people can riot about it but for now we have yet to see if that is the case (it will likely be the case) but again, nobody is forcing you to pay for this stuff, let alone play the game mode.

Infantry is going to be truly something different for the game and I personally welcome it, as long as its vastly different to enlisted because that game was truly attrocious, it holds absolutely nothing to the games that came before it such as Heroes and Generals, Red Orchestra, and other rising storm games.

but yeah calling people blind for it is Complete unessecary

Your fighting a losing battle for what? The game mode is coming that’s that, and Gajin did listen to it’s player base, as most ask for this, I’ve been waiting since 2018 for this. So please if you want to play tanks or planes go play them. No one got a gun to your head forcing you to play this mode.

To note if your a vehicle nerd infantry opens the door to so many new vehicles for transport to equipment the standard game cant have. APC’s, Motorbikes, Hovercraft, Jet packs you name it gaijin can likely get it in. My favorite thing that could be added are robots.
Look how fun this could be in game!

Yes, I note that in my previous response. Rather than only expressing my views, I do so while also encourage you to look around objectively in social media, and see what most think. I only state my conclusions from doing this myself, then I infer the context and reasoning for these sentiments.

You’re on a thread for the second infantry testing period, introducing new content, changes, etc, it is to no one’s surprise that there is a bias in the player views here in favor of the mode. It’s already been announced, the first time around sparked protest, the second one is largely irrelevant. Moreover, players are quite effective at self-discriminating into echo chambers; this is demonstrated here.

Except that, unlike many studios, Gaijin doesn’t base its development on the feelings of its community; they impose their vision. This has its pros and cons, that’s for sure, but the advantage is that we’ll see how this Infantry mode turns out.
You have to understand that this isn’t something that came out of nowhere; it’s budgeted, approved by management, people are being hired, there might even be a new setup in new offices, etc.
Basically, they’re not going to stop everything just because some people don’t want it.

Sometimes I like the “we’ll do it, and if you don’t like it, then leave” approach.

i recomend you to do the same for those who are for infantry, you claim to know several servers wich migth be true but you aint in all of them on earth, you aint on every youtube channel, you aint every singel channel around infantry, if you are then god damn, your an absulte unit, but its true people are against but as i mentioned people are for it as well, “the blind” part here is to not ackownldege those who want it, plus your in an infantry thread yourself said and this is for closed beta second testing phase, guess what, people here like infantry, so you are kinda crying wolf wolf here, not picking on you, as fenrir said, you figthing a losing battle, nobody are forcing you from playing different modes, they wont dissapear, if you wanna do real research you need to do it from both sides else its just an opinion not a fact, again not picking on you so dont get that idea, i wil never say your opinion is wrong, i respect what your saying, everyone has the rigth to belive what they want but facts and opions aint the same

meant to reply to the guy with the chinese letters or whatever they are, i will not continue on this further due to i will prob get smited by the mods if i do so i have said my stuff

When people joined War Thunder in 2013, they did because of the planes, because it was all there was.

When people joined War Thunder in 2014-2016, they did because of the planes and tanks, because it was all there was.

When people joined War Thunder in 2016-2018, they did because of the planes, tanks and ships, because it was all there was.

When people joined War Thunder in 2018-2026, they did because of the planes, tanks, ships and helicopters, because it was all there was.

When people join War Thunder in 2026 onwards, they will do because of the planes, tanks, ships, helicopters and infantry, because it will be all there is.

And I could go even further beyond if I also specified the introduction of new eras. Before supersonics, people didn’t join for them because they weren’t there; same goes for battleships, modern MBTs, etc- things that originally weren’t there but that were eventually and later implemented.

War Thunder clearly aims to become a hub, digital encyclopedia and simcade experience of the military world; it began as only a plane game and it progressed into including all sorts of war machines from the 1900s to the 2020s. Now, infantry joins the Ranks.

What’s bad about War Thunder expanding its frontiers? If it never did it would still be a WW2-Korea war plane game, which is what it was during the first months.

You say that infantry in War Thunder is unwanted and unnecessary because “there are other games with infantry”.

Well, there were other games with planes.
There were other games with tanks.
There were other games with ships.

Yet here is War Thunder surpassing ALL of them. Who is to say the same thing may not happen with infantry? Specially for a niche that has been abandoned in the last years: people who want War Thunder’s signature sweet middle ground between arcade and simulation.

Most of the infantry-centric games that exist are WAY too arcade and resemble more hero shooters than military experiences, and the only alternatives to those are closer to being full-fledged tactical simulators than anything else.

If War Thunder provides a casual yet realistic experience, that niche will finally be covered again.

You believe infantry is unwelcome? Just wait for the player counts once these become available after release. Infantry will only help strengthen War Thunder’s position in the market, increase its finances and turn it into the biggest, greatest and most ambitious military themed piece of software that has ever existed.

This extreme negativity is unwarranted. The infantry developer team is not detracting any resources nor being detrimental to the vehicle department, they are completely and so it will be a separate game mode. This is in no way having a negative impact over the war machinery aspect of the game.

Because people on reddit are saying mean things

So no true combined arms?

It will have vehicles, so still combined arms!

Like capturing 3 points with tanks … or capturing 3 points with ships … or capturing 3 points with planes. So much for the other modes!

Will non content creators actually get access this time?

Especially those of us on console?

If the community supports your viewpoints, why are pro-Infantry replies receiving more likes than your anti-infantry replies? Your responses are clearly more well written, so if there were even an equal amount of people who are pro-infantry and anti-infantry, your replies would logically be receiving more likes. Additionally, where are all the anti-infantry users, if they represent the majority of the community? Whenever I look at an infantry forum post, the vast majority are users whom are excited for this development, with a few VERY vocal users being against it and INTENSELY defending their position, using any means necessary.

Now, to address the actual points of your reply,

Most people are apathetic, this is part of the human condition.

What are we doing right now? I’m allowed to tell you you’re wrong, just as much as you’re allowed to be wrong.

Yes, apathetic people (read: casuals) don’t really use these forums. That should be obvious.

No, because its a cool addition that people have been wanting forever.

There are a wealth of people against it, but they definitely are not the majority. Gaijin greed & balancing is an issue that effects everybody, and posts about infantry are not the place to whine about it. I’m here to discuss the actual topic because it is something that I’m very excited for. If Gaijin greed & balancing was okay to bring up everywhere, then every single post would devolve into a discussion of this very topic due to it clearly being the biggest issue for the game right now. This is not productive for people who want to discuss the actual additions themselves, and it is not an issue that can be easily solved by this kind of social action due to it being so systemic.

Okay, I’ll expand

I joined for the combined arms, the unparalleled amount of unique vehicle (yes, even after copy-paste), the industry-leading damage models and armament simulation. I started playing because I am a war nerd. A vehicle nerd too, yes. But a war nerd overall. And I have always felt that infantry has been the missing puzzle piece to Gaijin’s masterpiece of an all encompassing war game. And this is why infantry was always going to be added.

We joined for this, sure. Just as the first players joined for WW2 prop planes. But they stayed for the jets, the tanks, the ships, the helicopters, and everything else that has been added since. Battlefield, Squad, or Arma 3 are not suitable replacements for WT Infantry. Their damage models are too simple, their gameplay too arcadey, their vehicles too few, their gameplay loop too boring, etc. War Thunder has positioned itself to become the largest war game in the industry, but they cannot claim their throne without a shooter element. It is simply not possible, the genre is too popular. And the addition of infantry would not take away any other elements of the game. Gaijin knows this. They know their game will die if they neglect the massive air and ground playerbases, which is why it will not happen.

I also wish for Gaijin to improve, but adding an entirely new gamemode for the players, one that will allow many vehicles which were previously ignored to shine (helicopters, IFVs, etc) is not a negative addition, and I continue to be confused why you think it is.

Overall, infantry is coming, and I cannot be happier :)

Will Xbox players and PlayStation players get access to the second test since the first test no console player was added to it?
