I didn’t ask him to turn , that was his fantasy maneuvers , plus you can’t outmanoeuver even a 9B in tornado with wings back, lol
İt’s 5 am here , that will be 10 am for me , I’ll probably be sleeping. I got a puppy 2 weeks ago and he doesn’t let me sleep properly. Hmu in the days after , I’ve been looking for people to extensively test missiles and record.
Being American has nothing to do with it. I’m well aware I’m biased as hell towards the F-15s due to my experience with them. It doesn’t change that I can look at the R-73 next to a 9M and compare how their differences have pros and cons in game.
Hopefully we can find a time this weekend for it then, working nights.
We should trial with helicopters as well, to see the specific effects on the seekers, instead of just maneuvers.
r73 can be very reliable against choppers, but only because by the time you get a lock you’re practically in gun range where the seeker’s fov is too small to see flares deploy.
You guys wager R-73M/R-74? coming anytime soon? Afaik, only thing it has going for it is a higher gimbal limit, but that might be why I suspect it can come anytime soon.
I am not sure about the longer motor burn time I’ll have to check again, but it most definitely had better İRCCM. Because the seeker was completely changed. İt wasn’t just a simple gimbal limit increase.
Whatever the next R-73 version will be called by gaijin, it’s supposed to have ±60 gimbal before launch, dual band seeker and better thrust providing 40 km launch range
İİRC R-73M is basically that, but never went into serial production because USSR collapsed. When it went into production later it got more improvements and it’s name was changed I think. So R-74. But I’m not an expert so don’t quote me on that
I can find info on R-73/RVV-MD/R-74. They’re all the same missile as far as I can tell, and all corroborate a ±60 degrees gimbal limit seeker, with ±15 degrees more angle using a kind of SEAM, but everything specifies R-74M for the dual-band seeker.
And that dual-band seeker also is supposed to have a gimbal of ±90 degrees
R-73M had the 60* gimbal limit, we know this. I will try to find it but I’m pretty sure it also had better İRCCM (of course along with longer lock range)
Afaik but I personally not sure myself about everything, cos there is none official info about that, the next improved R-73 that actually went mass production is R-74M and R-74 is R-73 with russian made seekers (because in USSR seekers production was in Ukraine)
İmo now that Su-27 and SMT cannot face 11.3 they should add R-73M with more gimbal limit and a bit better İRCCM at least, the İRCCM on this is a joke, along with MAGİC-2.
You can see in my videos how much of a joke this missile is Vs Gripen and F-16
You can have dual band seeker with less gimbal limit > R-73M. But I doubt gaijin will implement dual band seeker anytime soon. Magic-2 is proved in bug reports to have this, but it has copy paste useless İRCCM of R-73
