A lightweight MBT is more fitting, though Gaijin thinks it is a light tank and decided to not give it all of its armor.

after GE the vehicle(trust me I got no financial loss) I would agree that VT5 currently perfome well in the game. It got ok ammo and good enough mobility, spall liner is great and sometime very usefull, armor is…unfortunately yet acceptable, I mean at least it wouldnt be .50 cals from the front, for APFSDS… try not the hit by one.
Yet I mean yet, for a 10.7 light tank in the game, VT5 is capable of doing stf. But it is still not 100% equal to its form in real life, apart from the armor issue that is widely know, the pen of the DTW2-105 should be increase slightly due to the improvement of the 105mm cannon, currently it is copyed directly from ZTL11.
I know it might be a balance reason and it is almost impossible to aquired the specific details but I would not believe ZPL151A(newly developed around 2010s)=ZPL98A(developed around 2000s), I mean they even got two different names. at least make it into a glass cannon when you have only bad armor
I played it quite aggressively by always pushing and flanking yet I still got 1.5kd and a pretty good win rate.
for general view I would recomend VT5 as your best light tank for Chinese tech tree to flank and have some fun, althrough it isnt the perfect form but it is still a good tank, just dont GE it, wait a bit while and maybe when you get it those problems will be fixed

of course is T80UE1, my shell pened and do absolutely no damge to anything but the autoloader, it makes me sometimes wonder since when did PLA use sand to make their APFSDSs

I hope gaijin will add the BTA2 in the near future. BTA2 should get really good post pen damage
yup, however the BR might be increased to 11.0, but I would take that as acceptable
I don’t think its going to affect its BR. M1128 gets M900 at 10.3 so I dont think adding BTA2 to VT-5 is going to increase its BR.
yeah hope so, but VT5 is currently perfome so well so gaijin may increase its BR to reduced the damage of it to low BR vehicles

M1128 is also even bigger, has a poor turning radius, has the same garbage depression while being very tall, has really poor reverse, and worst of all, it has a nerfed and long reload at 7.5s…there’s a reason it has M900 and at 10.3.
I don’t think VT-5 needs any better APFSDS, they should prioritise the armor and then add the ZTQ-15 with better ammo at a higher BR.
Spalling on the DTW2-105 is pretty bad, penetration is good and especially for 10.7 but the spalling needs to be adjusted. The chemical protection on the turret for the VT-5 is also pretty good for a light tank but the wedge design makes it so if you hit the bottom half with HEAT it will almost always overpressure you.
Improve the spalling, improve the reload to 4s and adjust the protection and the vehicle should be excellent, the spalling against vehicles like the T-90M is pretty rough (yes, I bring it to top tier lmao).

yeah, give it 3bm25 to m111 level protection won’t hurt, and even some kind of nerf, because it can surely create many secondary shatters
They most likely will raise it to 11.0 if enough gigachads play it. That might force them to give it BTA2

This is ridiculous, the Sprut-SD lost the competition for the Bangladesh army because the VT5 was noted to have much better protection, the VT5 armor in the game is hilariously bad. 15mm of RHA on the LFP lmao.

105mm caliber and below spalling (doesn’t matter what round)has always been rough against t90m and t80BVM for a while now. Most people don’t notice because most people don’t use light tanks in top tier lineups
You should compare Sprut-SD against PGZ04A with VT-5 then
