The seeker itself was not changed. It would be more accurate to say that the AIM-9G’s seeker’s capabilities were improved and modified. The only major changes were made to the electronics. However, these improvements resulted in a higher refresh rate, which significantly enhanced its close-range dogfighting capability. Your monitor analogy is correct.

ok so a chance the f8h and j can us the 9h? not the aim-9l as it was only tested on the crusaders… honestly i dont know how the f8 would hold up if it got the 9l it may push the jet into a br that is just too high for it… and honestly if we have to chose between 9g and 9h ill say 9h
as it stands we only have 2 aircraft in us tree withh the 9h and one of them is premium.
Well, think of F-8H as a late-spec F-8D, which was refurbished to this standard. Using that logic, it should receive late weaponry in the game.
AFAIK, I saw only the China Lake F-8H tested with the AIM-9L. I believe the AIM-9L required a different launcher rail. I don’t have current technical information yet.
u think it should get a 9h then?
Yes, as it stands, the game treats AIM-9G and AIM-9H the same. The only difference in the files is AIM-9G’s 12 degrees/sec track rate vs AIM-9H’s 20 degrees/sec track rate.
and u also agree. would be nice to see more jets get a aim-9h as i just feel having 2 jets in game with it is not enough even though the 9g and 9h acts the same in the game. nice to have variety.
ok and when it comes to f-8h and J think one of them should be a prem?
Imo, I would like to see F-8H as a premium, preferably as the battlepass reward, and F-8J as a tech tree addition.
The F-8H could also receive AIM-95 Agile and AIM-9L, which were only trialed on this variant.
Then, the F-8J can just receive its late & operational weaponry, up to AIM-9H.

def a good idea there hope it comes to battle pass its a f2p reward :) or maybe f-8h can be squadron?
they both use the LAU-7, i think it was just a thought of whats the most used aircraft and which are seen as aging and going out of style (as it was vastly claimed that missiles would take up air combat there would be no need for gunfighters)
yeah, as the phantoms were coming the the Js/Ss/Ns/Es and soon to be Gs were thought more of for the compatability of the 9Ls/9Hs vs the aircraft that were getting taken out of service (at least USN service)
hopefully techtree rather not see the best variant locked behind paywalls
same with the XF8U-3 if russia can have prototype jets like yak 141 so should america +1

difference is this was tested with/hung the weapons it was going to use
what the XF8U2 ?
my point is every hightier prototype american jet america has gotten is a event or premium its not fair
I don’t see why it’s too low at 11.0. The Mig-21bis sits at 11.0 as well and the Aim-9Ls can be easily flared by most jets around 10.0 - 11.0 (with small exceptions like the Japanese F1 or the US F-4C Phantom II) . F-5E FCU is smaller, more nimble and can pull up higher G’s without ripping wings off, so it’s not exactly a 1:1 comparison. And putting it around 11.3 will make it prone to meet jets with Doppler SARH missiles, like the Mirrage-2000C-S5 and the F/A-18A with better armament options.
