I forgot to respond to that.
The search radars work a little differently compared to missile radars in game.
That still should not be the case, as helicopters tend to have a ginormous doppler signature wherever they go, as, you know, they might have a few big objects spinning at hight speeds.
Sadly gaijin refuses to model rotors doppler return, so here we are.
Then I don’t understand how SARH seekers can see a notching target provided there’s enough altitude difference but ARH missiles can’t see a heli with enough altitude difference.
I would love to give a nice comment to this, but it is something is physically can not explain in a way different than “It’s a game thing”
Maybe it can be raised with a bug report, especially that ARH missiles should enter pulse when they lose doppler effect on the target, and it should deal with the heli problem.
Unless that heli chaff the missile in pulse mode, or stationary helis lack any radar return.
so, 3s for booster, and ~2.5s sustainer (Gaijin put 3.75 which is in fact a bit too much, but over compensated by the absurd amount of drag it gets in game)
As for the 710m/s value, it’s just MBDA being MBDA and not immediately releasing all the specs : see for example :
ever heard of a little thing called rotor blades ? X)
Regarding FPV drones, you don’t defend your multi million SAM sites by detecting the drones and shooting them down, it would be pointless and a waste of money.
I did not deny drones were not SAM killers, i just said that a detection of 15m/s is not going to change that. Besides, you could probably detect a decently sized quadcopter even with a low speed because of the rotors once again
A lot could be said about MICA VLs downsides, but the radar just ain’t it
Sure, but that’s not a MICAs problem then, but a game limitation one. Which should be changed, by the way, since some helicopters are going to receive invisible shielding to IIR sensors next patch
