USSR in 2025

As War Thunder continues to expand its roster, the Soviet tech tree remains a cornerstone of the game’s combined arms battles. Here are some vehicles we could or should anticipate in 2025.

Ground Vehicles:

T-72B3A

Comes equip with a Arena-M Active Protection System, Nakidka Thermal Cover/Camo Net, Drone Jammers, “Cope Cage”, rubber covers for the engine deck and more ERA covering weakspots.

BMPT-72 Terminator-2

Heavily requested addition, the Terminator-1 could be the premium variant.

T-80BVM 2024

BA-64 (PTRS)

Something to throw in at the battlerating of 1.0 and potentially start a line of wheeled vehicles.

TOR-M2

Best variant of the TOR System, has x16 missiles, can fire on the move, has a improved radar, 16km range and the 9M338 can hit speeds up to 1,000m/s.

Aircraft:

MiG-35 (w/Zhuk-A/AM AESA)

Su-32 (Su-27KUB) prototype (Premium)

This one is interesting, you could say its like the Su-34 but it keeps the HMD and still has its IRST and has a worse radar.

I-250

Mixed propulsion aircraft in my opinion are some of the coolest airframes.

MiG-25PD (Squadron Vehicle)

Ka-52 1997 (Squadron)

Interestingly this model is capable of firing weapons such as the Kh-25, R-73/R-74 and other never before seen weapons on the platform in game currently.

Naval:

Sovetsky Soyuz

Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya post-war

Verniy (prize ship Hibiki) (potential battlepass vehicle)

If you have any other ideas feel free to let me know what you think would fit best.

The T-tanks you mentioned are likely to come in the form of just extra modifications for the already existing ones. BMP-T has been in discussion for a long time but I have not seen Gaijin participate or acknowledge these discussions.

There IS a BA armored car already in game as a gift? or premium vehicle and it’s the 6x6 one with a T-26 turret, so I’m not sure if Gaijin would see the BA PTRS as a necessary enough addition since RU low tier is already fairly packed

Those are my 2 cents

Great proposal, but personally I’m not interested in more main battle tanks for USSR, has a lot of good new things, more modernized T-72s and T-80s is not needed now.

Are these just full relikt T72B3?

I’m actually not sure, I saw a discussion about them, perhaps someone with more knowledge will be able to answer.

I mean what is quite clear though is: cast turret, spaced out ERA as opposed to BVMs behind, relikt on full and side all the way and seemingly all smokes to one side, 8 in total.

who wants ships nobody plays naval.
Plus, the only thing they give for events are ships.
I also think its weird that the naval fleet starts at 4.3, and end like at 7.0

If I’m not wrong a new variation T-72BZM, hugely improved T-72B3, almost like a T-90M without the technology that makes it a T-90M like the remote controlled HMG.

To be honest this just seems like an error of mixing з and 3.

Raptor class boats would be cool

Apparently yes, I was watching to the reupload of the Victory Day parade and the translator said “Z” instead of “3” when the speaker clearly said “three”.

Translated version:

For instance, the Russian part announcing the entrance of the T-72B3M column:

Which is funny, if’s the case of a translation mistake a few media channels is referring to the T-72B3M as ‘T-72BZM’.

I saw the parade livestreamed hoping to see some new equipment for War Thunder.

We, fortunately, haven’t yet reached a place where equipment is named to appease the so-called turbo-patriots.

I believe one T-73B3M with Arena was present.

I think the Improvisations (like cope cage, jammers) are unlikely given it has little in game effect and accuracy may not be what they want.

Other improvements like aps, upgrades in era and transmissions should come. Thermal camo could also be a nifty new tech.

I saw it was present at one of the victory parades at one of the other provinces

Isn’t there a raptor with a Kornet ATGM? If so those would be a cool addition

Yep, 8 kornets, this was unveiled in 2022

Considering how poorly the Csaba already preforms with a 20mm and APHE at its disposal, I can’t see any vehicle armed with a singular anti-tank rifle to even be remotely usable in comparison.

Besides, the BA-64 has a more effective variant anyways in the form of the BA-64D with the DShK.

If the KA-52 is from 1997 how does it have R-74?

R-74 is older than you think.
It’s basically an improved R-73M.
Also I saw an image with it mounted.
