Yeah sure they could in theory get a lucky shot that hits a munition, but Vietnam era systems are not capable of that, I doubt anyone on the forums can provide an example of the Shilka, much less the VADS, shooting down such munitions, the VADS lacks a search radar so it would be unaware of the incoming aircraft much less small munitions, unless it’s informed by another system, if there was a central radar fire control near the system maybe, but doubt it. Saying they can shoot down munitions is like saying you can fall out of an airliner and land with only a sprained ankle, the luck involved makes it unrealistic. If you want to have some sort of counter to guided systems why not have smoke generation machines deploy, when a separate radar detects incoming munitions, since that is far more realistic than a Vietnam era SPAAG system, identifying a munition, locking onto said munition and then hitting it with any degree of accuracy. I would even dare say that the modernized versions of these systems will struggle to do said job, the M247 would at least make some sense with proxy rounds, but the Shilka and VADS of the Vietnam era is just beyond unrealistic.

i wonder why they dont know the mig25 is there? maybe cuz its at 30-40k ft while my teammates who’ve been at the battlefield for a while dont know

Actually the Mig-25PD (the one we have in-game), has introduction date of 1979. F-14A is from 1974. It’s pretty stupid the Mig-25 sits at such a low BR, it’s avionics is obviously much better than anything at that BR. Mostly a problem in SIM
Think the Mig-25, Japanese T-2 and the Hawk 209 are the only planes with a PD radar in nuclear thunder? But the T-2 and Hawk don’t have radar missiles. So that’s a big deal…

The Yak 130 is from 2010, the Su-25BM is from 2018
The A-10, A-5C, Alpha Jet, AMX, F-1, Hawk 200, Sea Harrier, Su-25 and T-2 all entered service after the Vietnam war

You’re using the BR of those in the same tier, hes talking more about how the f4e with the mig21 per-say
No one that knows that denies it. The problem is following, that when u try it by yourself, it will take time for your Radar to lock it up, furthermore the AA’s turn their Turrets directly as if they got the ammunition on their Radar, which they are by fact physically not capable to. They can only scan a small area and if the Ammunition is coming from behind, how would they know it is there if they don’t have a 360° Radar?

It doesn’t matter what planes were facing eachother IRL at a set timeframe, what matters are their specifications and what kit they get in-game
The BRs for the event are very fair and the only people I see complaining are the usual “US suffers” and “Russian bias” crowd
Do you even play America? if they were very fair, the mig25 wouldn’t be in the event; the spaa would actually be realistic, only attacking you if they can see you and are within a 1-2.5 km radius. there would be more us aircraft that can actually participate in an event like they did irl with the f4e and its sht radar. And russian mains like you would complain that America needs nerf immediately
I find it funny that the “Vietnam” event mode, doesn’t allow the F4E in, one of the most if not the most famous Vietnam aircraft ever.

Good: Airfield nuke rushing is a lot harder.
Bad: why would you put missile spaa on depots? Its so wretched. Is the goal that the only way to handle depots is a tactical nuke?.
