yes, its better but still not nearly enough. 10.3 is playable again but 10.7 light tank and onward are still going to get feasted on. BMPT should be ATLEAST 12.0, or better yet, fix the armor model and make the ammo explode like it supposed to
It does explode, you just need to aim to the correct ammo instead of destroying the missiles and grenade launcher ammo and thinking you did something usefull and that you should have killed it, bruh.
I’ve been using the BMPT only on my 12.7 lineup and it’s just as broken there.
The problem with the terminator isn’t that it’s somehow the strongest tank in the game, but the fact that it survives way more shots than it should.
Mainly because its damage model is absolutely ridiculous.
Yeah, I think its going to be a fundementally broken vehicle forever and was a huge mistake to ever add. In fact, if it wasnt for the fact it was soviet, I doubt they would have actually added it to any other nation.
All AFVs are strong, but have the vulnerability of being light tanks with minimal survivability. The BMPT has top tier MBT protection. That combination is just inherrently broken.
I think they need to remove its addon ERA as a corrective balancing measure, it would not be the first time they have removed or denied adding ERA onto a vehicle as a balancing measure (Challenger DS for example is missing addon armour, that has been denied upon those grounds, and the Ajax never recieved it either.). Then I think the TT version with 6 crew should be at a minimum 0.3 higher than the premium version with only 4 crew. If the removal ERA doesnt have the desired effect, moving both up another 0.3, so that they were 12.0 and 12.3 respectively would totally remove them from the sight of 10.7 vehicles.
I know personally that I will only be playing 10.3 for the foreseeable future, but Britain actually has a half decent 10.3 lineup, not all nations have that luxury
The rounds have much higher pen to start with. Even my 11.7 light tanks with 500+ armor pen darts usually pen them, whereas I have almost no lucky with darts even just under 500 armor pen.
APHE is a different story though. I can absolutely destroy them with my 2S38, most of the time. For whatever reason, multiple of the APHE shells get through. The darts from the 2S38 do almost nothing however.
I see the angle youre coming from but if it was “only” matter of pen (which i assume it isnt since you opened with “for starters”) there are several vehicles starting around 10.7 (or whatever BR Sabra is) that should be able to fold BMPTs like wet paper, but that doesnt seem to be the case.
I personally dont believe fighting BMPT in 11.3 and fighting BMPT in 12.7 is gonna make any difference in grand scheme of things.
Similiarly, BMPT doesnt care if its fighting 11.3s or 12.7s, the gameplay loop stays the same.
What I think should happen is to completly separate them from anything but 11.7 in a downtier and just let them be their own thing at top tier together with all the fun balanced stuff.
Yes, but like I keep saying on repeat, the biggest issue is how often it was getting down to 10.3/10.7. At least 50%, and probably 75% of the battles I played at those BR’s were infested with BMPT’s.
BECAUSE, again I am repeating myself for the 4th or 5th time in this thread, there was a severe lack of opponents up to 12.3 for it to face. NOW, because of how many 12.7 vehicles there are, it WILL get many more uptiers rather than getting downtiered 50%-75% of the time.
All of you guys keep saying the same dang thing “zomg it will do fine at 12.7”

Does the color coding help? Please guys, not ONCE have I said it wont do fine up to 12.7. Not, one, single, time. Everyone keeps replying to me like that is what I am saying 🤦♂️
Speaking about crew training, is there a way to check progress towards ace crew now? I can’t find it anywhere after recent crew training window rework.
BUT! Most of those excellent games were downtiers! I had multiple matches where I survived the entire match. Rolling from cap point to cap point. But when it was an uptier, I would almost always die trying to cap, or trying to hold a cap. I don’t think I survived an entire match in a uptier while I was grinding its mods.
The difference in effectiveness between a full down and full uptier with the BMPT’s is astounding. My experiences with it are why I am putting so much emphasis on the up/down BR issue. Is it too tough? Yeah probably. But it matters MUCH less in a full uptier. I was damn near invincible in a full downtier.
If the stats are still averaging 60% win rate on next month’s Statskark data, I will be right here with you guys pushing to get it upped to 12.0. Or higher. I don’t care what happens to the BMPT’s. I only care about the downtiers it was/is getting, ruining an entire -1.0 BR “bracket” under itself.
Relax dude, we all love the game and are painfully aware of unfinished stuff and bugs, but that is just a nature of live service game. It will always be work in progress to some degree.
There are live service games in much worse state than War Thunder.
