Glitch on AF still happens.
Good it should kill you instantly for touching ground without landing gear. It has always been extremely unrealistic, you SHOULD have to use your landing gear. No aircraft is going to be able to reload and take off again after a belly landing. Not even the A-10 could get back up in the air after a gear up belly landing.
Again, NO plane on the face of the planet is going to be able to rearm and get back in the air in seconds/minutes after a belly/missing gear landing. You are out of action until major repair work is completed. Use your landing gear.
You are absolutely off your rocker if you think the A-10 can belly land AND get back up in the air in the same day. You guys who think belly landing is acceptable are delusional. You should at most get some RP/SL’s for a “Soft Landing”, but NO plane in the world is going to be serviceable the same day after a belly landing. Period.
Exactly.
And for other major damage that is still “repairable” in game after landing, MAYBE the current repair times should be increased, but that is a separate issue/debate. Regardless, you should 100% NOT be able to land without landing gear and get the normal repair time. That is absolutely absurd. You should have to wait 1-2 min+ if you decide to land with your gear up. Absolutely delusional trying to defend belly landings as normal.
That’s not what drones do.
Unless you’re claiming IRL militaries are wall-hacking in real life…
@TheDudesRug @Dontkev-psn
Maybe you just hit down too hard…
I tested in a 2 hour 10 minute custom match as well, if I got different results I would’ve posted them.
I got identical results so I didn’t feel the need to add another screenshot.
@SilentTracker
Realism > your feelings in this case.
Also you’re not really repairing, you’re in reality swapping aircraft.
Nah, can confirm - belly landings are working fine. Done quite a few since you posted.
I always considered the ‘repairs’ in game to be just switching to a fresh, identical aircraft. It makes more sense lol
this is probably one of the most pointless things to say related to the game. You suspend your sense of disbelief when you assume that a plane that lands on an airfield with no elevator, missing wing, damaged rudder and fuselage with holes as big as a pumpkin is getting repaired within a minute yet somehow try to argue that a plane landing with its belly is too unrealistic because the repair would take too long?
In warthunder things are just repaired unrealistically fast to not impede gameplay. This much you should understand given that the alternative of getting any type of damage would be basically an immediate inability to fly in the match anymore.
To the point at hand, belly landings are done and are realistic. They are an emergency measure irl because guess what, the plane is not meant to be landed that way normally outside of cases where the alternative is losing the plane entirely as the plane will suffer damage to the fuselage from skating across the floor that some poor mechanic is then going to have to fix up.
Given that in WT repair time doesnt matter no matter the vehicle, landing with the belly is a viable choice and as much as it might disappoint you the quickest choice to come to a stop on the runway.
The landing was done in a live match on Sands of Sinai while landing at shallow angle below 500kph.
The problem is that the “crash” created no damage to the plane, there was no explosion, no breaking of wings or parts, just “your plane has crashed” while the plane is successfully skating across the runway as youd expect from a belly landing. By all accounts the landing should have been successful and yet the crash message popped up.
What’s unrealistic is doing so with 560 (!!!) km/h.
(As in vid posted above, I mean… Update 2.47.0.130 - #4 by Dontkev-psn)
Whats battleship is it?
poltava
Lol ofc
490, still even then the argument was about him saying belly landings being unrealistic in general.
As for the video in question, below 500 is generally (or was) safe ingame to start skating. The changelog hasnt talked about speed reduction to belly land, or any real change to anything similar so this is kinda moot. Ingame ive done belly landings going 630-600 kph on contact.
Even giving the best benefit of the doubt that ive hit the ground “too hard” on contact in the video the plane is undamaged, it just killed the pilot and left the plane in single piece.
got broken after the levithan update. Air dropped torepedo surely got a huge buff right? 1 torepedo is enough to kill 60% of my crew and disable 70% of the ship.
Just because they haven’t exploded doesn’t mean they will ever be air worthy again, with their hulls getting written off because of the sustained damage, that’s realistic as well.
If you want realism, keep belly landings but increase the repair times in that case by a lot.
I mean, god forbid you use landing gear. I get it, I do it too, not the end of the world. I’d be more upset if I couldn’t actually do a necessary belly land rather than a purposeful, unnecessary one.
