Unusually Large download size for update (87gb)

I use the launcher directly and it gave me 17gb only (I don’t use steam for WT)

Depending on when you last updated and if you’re using the higher quality textures or not then i’ve seen others with similar sizes for this update due to the change in textures.

The compression format of all ground vehicles textures has been changed from DXT5 to BC7 to improve their quality. The visual texture compression artifacts have become way less noticeable , including the blocky and color banding artifacts. The GPU load when unpacking the textures and the total file size have remained virtually the same, but this switch to another compression method requires a one-time download of about 20 GB of changed textures for the standard client and 35 GB for clients with ultra-high quality for ground vehicles textures.

Please note that this update requires more data to be downloaded than usual. About 20 GB more for the standard client and 35 GB more for clients with ultra-high quality for ground vehicle textures. This is because we have changed the compression format of all ground vehicle textures, helping to improve their quality without virtually any increase in the total size of the textures.

im aware but the game downloaded 37gigs arrive to 95% and then it doubled in size.

Ive gotten this from time to time with steam. Sometimes it just redownloads large chunks of the game instead of just the update. No idea why. Maybe the download corrupted or something?

Sounds like some sort of file corruption or something like that and the game needed to re-download a lot of files.

ok what the actual hell is going on i paused it to go do a thing and it went from 78% to 38%

If you’re still having issues i recommend stopping it and starting a file verification instead, it will check all files and download every file that is out of date or broken then do a full check of all the files once it done, it’s might take a bit longer than a “normal” update would but it has a much higher chance of succeeding.

I got it downloaded, i uninstalled the ground textures and installed them later.
