Quite literally a video about that.
With maneuvers and countermeasures, dazzle IRCM is not effective without the other components of operation.
The base AN/ALQ-144 did not have separate modes and was only effective against early missiles, such is on the early AH-64A, subsequent models sport the AN/AAR-57 which directs all countermeasure systems automatically including the later make AN/ALQ-144s.
One of the issues with the AH-64 series in game is the lack of the AN/AAR-57 on the D series of helicopters and on the likes of the premium Peten and Greek AH-64A, such has been reported but ignored like many of the other issues present within the AH-64s. (Still missing their expanded CM launchers and such)
So as the functionality is not modelled in the game, what state should the switch be in?
As much as I also like the models as authentic as possible, I find that really a very minor cosmetic issue.
I’d rather see additional functionalities added, and there’s plenty of examples of sorely missing stuff there (navigation, ground mapping and terrain avoidance radars, ECM,…).
Then there’s a lot of gauges with functionalities in the game where the gauge (or switch / button / light / whatever) is not showing said functionality as well. For example a lot of not most RWR warning lights are no (yet) modelled to work correctly, or various fuel and speed gauges and other are not working at all…
They should at least be modeled to be on OFF.
Most of the switches the functionality of which are not yet present in game are turned on in the cockpit.
At least if they’re modeled to be on OFF it would make sense.
