Modernization of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ “Bulat” MBT. The key aspects of the modernization are a more powerful 6TD engine replacing the 5TDFM and a reversible transmission

Information about these Bulats emerged as early as last year; the number of these vehicles is severely limited due to the capabilities of the BTRZ and the availability of remaining Bulats, but the new notor-transmission unit is a necessary upgrade. It’s a real shame that this modernization came so late.

A 1,000-horsepower engine, a transmission with new gearboxes, the TPN-4EMbT gunners sight, and so on. The upgrades look promising. Now the Bulat has been brought up to the UD standard not only in terms of combat effectiveness but also in terms of powerpack (and even slightly surpasses the Bereza).

In short, kudos to everyone involved in developing this version of the Bulat.

Gotcha, I see now. I misread thinking it’s a modernization of the BM2. Could be listed as “T-64BM Bulat obr. 2026” or “T-64BM obr. 2026”. I appreciate the clarification 🤙
