Yes, I own all three. The HKP2 is arguably the fastest getting into position due to its airspawn, and if you break off its pontoons then it is indisputed the most mobile of the three.
There’s no reason for the Alouettes to be lower than the Huey. I prefer the Alouettes over the Huey anyways just due to it being a lighter, smaller aircraft with better optics (10x zoom v.s 6x zoom).
The UH-1B wouldn’t cause any balance issues at 8.3, so I don’t see why it shouldn’t be lower. There’s hundreds of examples of two vehicles, one better than the other in some aspects, and worse in others, being the same BR. Why should Huey and Alouette be any different?
Besides, America is kinda in need of an 8.3 chopper, especially with the lack of good 8.3 CAS options.
He was also trying to downplay the Alouettes machine guns, better mobility, and its better optics. For some reason, he seems super fixated on me claiming that the Alouette being smaller is an advantage, and also implies that the Huey’s “better armor” is some godlike property.
Another thread… I’ll just say leave it to compression. It isn’t a good nor a very bad 8.7, considering all, Z11 is probably most comparable trading loadout for thermals, which is extremely powerful in 8.7 but honestly, but for two missiles and rockets which are useful, I think they are comparable. Against better ones, I do understand it is not particularly strong, but against 8.3s, I really can’t support it.
Please everyone let’s avoid profanities and other offensive comments such as using illnesses as an insult. Keep it respectful and tidy, once again you’re free to discuss and to disagree with each other but that doesn’t mean that you’re entitled to insulting the other user/opinion.
Could be, id say from helipad maybe compare their climb rates first see who climbs faster.
Then set them up so they only go up so high and try to have them race to a vehicle or something. You want to try and match conditions so that they can be more easily compared.
Pretty sure there is a overlay that lets you see the angle your helicopter is at so you can match them. Someone may be able to tell you, im not familiar with it enough.
Climb is actually pretty important. If i can get above my target i can shoot down on them while my opponent loses altitude fast trying to look up.
Climb also allows you to recover from a dive after dodging, saying it doesn’t matter is a bad thing since its one of the more valuable traits for low BR helicopters since it allows them to dodge and then climb and get sights on targets faster.
Nope, if an SPAA is shooting me and i need to dodge, having poor climb rate means doing extreme evasive rolls will cause you to have too much momentum pulling you down at lower altitudes. Imo stuff like the G lynx is a pretty good example. In that vehicle you can have a missile fired at you and quickly flip upside down and get below cover and recover before crashing. Weaker engines and poor helicopters cant do that unless they are up high enough and try to flip back over before crashing. Its how i played the Bo 105’s since they can recover like that at low altitudes.
Good mobility means you can escape pretty bad spots more often than those that cant. Weaker engines just dont have the power to do those rolls at lower altitudes.
Huey is actually one of the better examples of this, and trust me. With the Italian or Japanese Huey any mobility is needed for those close range engagements.
