disagree. The aquisition of a russian tank as modern as the T-80U in the early 90s will have directly affected the design and development that went into Challenger 2 and ammunition such as L27a1 and L28a1. While never fielded its still a landmark in british tank history, just like tiger 131 was in ww2 or when a soviet tank gatecrashed a british embassy and lead to the L7 105mms development.
Is this the one the UK had tricked Russia, or someone (I can remember who), into letting them get it, right?
If so, +1 as an Event or BP vehicle just due to its history.
Reading is but a simple thing… ♥
But yeah, in 1992 the UK managed to secretly acquired a small handful of T-80U tanks from Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union by using a shell company that was supposed to deliver them to Morocco. The UK purchased these tanks through a special trading company that bought them for approximately $5 million each, which helped mask the transaction.
Man everyone trying to suggest T-80Us recently, what’s up with that?
-1. It’s well written, but the Brit’s buying it and hucking a fresh coat of paint on it isn’t modifying it. If they didn’t modify it then it isn’t their “technology” and does not belong in the British technology tree
I’m blind it seems, despite reading that blurb.
(Doesn’t help; I’m currently using a dual-tab feature, making my WT forums tiny as I work on a suggestion)
Everything for Britain
If someone has problem with that then make it event vehicle
With later very little drop chances from boxes like 1 per 1 million boxes
From india anyway Britain will get a lot of T tanks
Gotta be honest im neither for or in opposition of this
No, Britain can take Soviet Tanks throw India
No. Just no.
Can’t believe we are at a point where we even need to explain why.
While we’re at it, let’s give the US a Mig 25 and a Mig 23 because they acquired them from defectors and tested them. The US also had dozens of Mig-23’s as aggressor aircraft.

-1. We should not make the UK tree a “British museum” but dedicated to war vehicles, if you know what I mean… (unless it was modified to an extent it differs practicaly gameplay-wise)
Not really stop Gaijin before… looks at Sweden
Do you think that I can remove vehicles already added?
no
but can i try to stop it from happening in the future?
yes
I really know that I should say -1 on this addition
Because the British Army, or either of the sub-tree nations, didn’t operate this
But the story about this vehicle keeps me rationalising…
“Wait, but we bought them, right…? This isn’t a captured vehicle.”
So, ±0 from me
If you’re talking about the one that landed in Japan, it wasn’t even evaluated, but the US broke it down into hundreds of pieces and studied it before sending it back (still disassembled) to the Soviets. The only other MiG-25 captured was the wingless Iraqi one.
+1 purely as Event.
Like it or not, the UK owns this vehicle.
Could get a T-72m1 from south africa in that case. South africa did some crazy things to the 72m1

Well that FCS box alone gets the +1 from me on that particular 72m1.
Shameless plug of a mates video but @RealHighPingHero has made a video on the T-72m1 i mentioned. Worth checking out as that one isnt just a soviet tank with no modifications.
There is also a T-72m1 modified by South Africa to be kinda like the GBT-155 or palmaria, heres the link to its suggestion = T-72M1 (T6)
