Type 420 Thetis class Sub-chaser - U-Jagd boote in the New Era
Hello everyone. Today I would like to introduce Thetis-class, a slightly minor sub-chaser of the German Navy.
Background:
Spoiler
The Thetis-class subchasers were the result of the German Navy’s effort to adhere to NATO guidelines in the 1950s. While the initial plan did not include anti-submarine boats, the German Navy deemed them necessary and decided to acquire five vessels that could serve as military auxiliary ships. The first designation for these boats was “Torpedofangboot, groß, Typ A” or torpedo catcher, large, type A. However, they were soon redesignated as “Flottendienstboote” or fleet service boats, and finally as U-Jagd-Boote in 1974.
In terms of size and speed, the Thetis-class subchasers were larger and more seaworthy than previous boats. They were designed to operate in the extended coastal and offshore areas of the North and Baltic Seas, and were equipped with fuel storage to increase their range and endurance. Their main armament for anti-submarine warfare was a hull-mounted sonar, torpedoes, anti-submarine rockets, and depth charges.
While the Thetis-class subchasers were primarily used for anti-submarine warfare, they also served other purposes. As torpedofangboote, they were used to retrieve practice torpedoes fired by other warships and submarines. They were also used for training and reconnaissance, as well as to provide support to other naval vessels.
Features:
Spoiler
As mentioned above, Thetis is a very large ship, and at 69.8 meters in length, she is comparable to the M-class. Unlike the M-class, however, Thetis is equipped with powerful engines that allow her to travel at a speed of 43 km/h, which is not bad.As for armament, Thetis is equipped with 375mm anti-submarine rockets on her bow to destroy submarines. These can already be seen in the game, and are also installed on the Koln and other ships. Aft, the Thetis can be equipped with a 40mm L/70 guns, a torpedo launcher, and a Naval mines.

Thetis in the game:
Spoiler
The Thetis class would be a very interesting option. Similar to the Poti class corvette (MPK Pr.204), the combination of rockets and Bofors guns has the potential to be a very powerful hard-hitter. While Thetis may not have the ability to hunt destroyers like Poti, with its two L/70 guns, it should have very high performance in dealing with bombers and boats.
