No it’s an autoloader
I know it looks like it that’s because the charges are stacked vertically unlike on t72 series but no it’s a autoloader
i mean when i look closer it look like it too
well know when chally get their turret basket
So look the one of the main reasons why turret baskets even exist is for the tanks that have manual loaders allow unimpeded turret rotation without having a loader move around
As an example a t-34 85 didn’t have to turret basket so every time the gunner had to turn the turret the loader would have to watch out not to get caught in a gun breech or hit by anything else
So here is an image this is what I was talking about this is only a frame that surrounds the auto
loader
yeah we know that
it also use to mount equipment and electronic
for the case of abrams, its minimal so when hit it should not disable the whole and and caught fire
and it should eat spall, not creating more
well i really cant say anything about that I don’t really know much about Western tanks all I know is decent amount of things about Russian tanks and that’s it
All I’m trying to say is that people that say that Russian tanks should get turret basket effect if they’re autoloader gets hit aoesn’t make almost any sense because if you’re familiar with how the autoloader on the Russian tanks works you will know that it has almost no contact with the Turret itself
the only reasoning why turret baskets on leo and abrams stop turret drive is that power and hydraulic lines run through them which is also true for russian autoloaders
also there is the insane argument about jamming the turret drive which while the very thin materials of a turret basket cant do the russian autoloaders are made of thicker metal which means damage to them is much more likely to jam the turret
Definitely an issue on paper, but gameplay wise it is a non-issue.
Your turret ring would still get pummeled by any semi-decent round and you’d only be safe from unlucky few that missclicked and spawned their IFV instead of an MBT. Hydraulic pump was a much more serious issue than the turret ring, but it received way less attention.
Herd mentality.
I’m sorry home boy I don’t know what you’re talking about the entire auto loader is literally made out of sheet metal and aluminium I don’t know how to explain you this correctly But trust me if the auto loader gets hit let’s say it was empty and the thing didn’t explode if the autoloader gets hit it would do almost nothing except you know jam the autoloader
yeah, and that is still much thicker materials than the turret baskets
yeah because theres something more serious than it now
the bs turret basket
the new one so bad it overshadowed the old one
kinda like, gaijin things right?
new things so bad the older bad has been overshadowed
And how you are going to shoot back with damaged ring?? You cant do ANYTHING to respond to enemy with broken ring when with broken loader you still have 1 SHOOT, seriosly, isnt that obvious??
Yeah, and both the Ariete and Challenger can take a shot without the turret ring getting destroyed. Instead of using the protection map which is pretty useless, sit there and actually see what the ricochet shots do.
If you guys can, check this video. Talks a bit about the abrams problems, uses and such.
The amount of times a straight shot through the breech kills the entire turret crew may suprise you.
Every mechanism needs oil to function it doesn’t makes them hydraulic.
Hydraulic actuator for autoloader in T-64/80.
Spoiler
I think we were talking about T-series (Excluding T-64A) turret horizontal traverse not about every system and if you want to model every possible mechanism in the tank i advise to stop it will backfire horribly.
