TU-95M Severely Broken

Im not sure how it was possible to mess this up, because no source on the planet claims 600rpm for the am23 cannon, which is the successor to the nr23 (900rpm). This isnt some mysterious cannon, its declassified with an quick google search stating at least 1200rpm. So now we have a highly vulnerable bomber at a br vaccum that puts its against f104s etc with cannons that fire slower than 1940s autocannons. Yes, the pe8s shvak fires faster at 4.3. Not worth flying rn until they fix. Which hopefully wont take months

There’s literally a AM-23 equipped plane ingame, the Q-5 Fantan.

Not only the rate of fire is wrong but the bullet velocity too. (NR-23’s 690m/s vs AM-23 720m/s)

I just hope they don’t try to justify the current value by claiming that ‘1200 RPM’ is for both guns combined, meaning 600 RPM per barrel. I saw a russian dev mention that somewhere, and it’s just very wrong.

Just to confirm how bad tu95 is rn. I hopped into tu4, and got into a match, dropped 4 kills easily. at 8.7 with some tu95s in the match. Yeah, tu4 is objectively the better bomber in air rb just by virtue of its guns WORKING. Tu95 was never going to have as much firepower, but right now its worse at defense than an il28. tu95 might only have 2-3 guns shooting at an enemy while tu4 is at least 6. Its good climb rate and speed mean nothing if it cant actually shoot back effectively. Got over 600 battles in it, with a kd of 2.0, so I feel I have enough experience to speak on this.

yup. should fire identical ammo to the gsh23, while also being backwards compatible with ns/nr23 rounds. I dont want to say gaijin was lazy but I really dont see any other explanation for this. There isnt anything “new” they would have to add… The gsh23 belts are already in game. Even if they didnt want to use gsh23 ammo they could have just cranked the fire rate to 1200rpm with nr23 ammo. how. did. they. get. this. wrong. The countermeasures are also borked. Makes no sense for gaijin to disable a cannon for flares when the Tu95m already has integrated countermeasures in the fuselage which is flare and chaff compatible… Wanted to fly this thing so badly and its maddening how rushed and broken this thing is

not to mention plethoras of other bugs like early problems with feet sticking through the fuselage, lacking critical flight systems it has in real life, cant fire flares in gunner mode, auto countermeasures dont work, cant use guns when you have a ccip target, etc. and the fucking default cockpit. lazy, sloppy job by gaijin… i was so excited when i heard the big bombers where coming and this is the shit they give us

If they fixed all the issues, I think it could be a decent sidegrade to the tu4. But right now its crippled defense is just not sufficient to combat the 9.3 fighters you will get matched with like 80 percent of the time. Might not believe me but tu4 would still do better at 8.3 because its so heavily armed, altitude hardly matters and your are guaranteed to trade kills with those supersonics because their interception path is so predictable. tu95 will never have as much firepower as tu4, but the low number of guns it does have should be buzzsaws compared to the pea shooters we have now

it has the same guns as the mig15 dont expect a buzzsaw. i think flares make a huge difference between tu95 and tu4, tu4 would die immediately to ir missiles before the interceptor enters gun range without flares. the only problem in the tu95 is those manually guided nord missiles french jets get, flare and chaff proof.

No, the am23 is not used on mig15s. Mig15 uses ns23 (600rpm) and nr23 (900rpm). AM23 is more modern, and fires at 1200-1300rpm. And uses higher velocity 23x115 ammo. Again no, tu95 is far more susceptible to ir missiles because its heat signature is enormous. Tu4 all you do is reduce throttle and you become invisible to aim9b. Currently am23’s rpm is identical to the 1940s ns23 (600rpm).

hi i did research and you where right. This thing would be infinitely better with its proper cannon performance, as the main thing it struggles with is fire velocity. it can hardly hit pursuing interceptors because the pullets are so damn slow, like they are lead slugs or something. this makes me even angrier the devs put 0 effort into this plane

Yeah, Im shocked how rushed it is. Never seen a vehicle as well documented and easy to research be so extremely wrong and bugged. The turrets dont line up with your crosshair either, so that makes it even more inaccurate. I think the final act of cruelty from gaijin is that fighter jets commonly get aispawns at this br so good luck not having them 10k ft above you 30 seconds into the match. This has got to be the most frustrated ive been at gaijin. Its not a viable bomber to play. Because it sits at the single worst br bracket possible. 8.3-9.3 has by far, the largest jump in performance. Early subsonics to early supersonics. It would be nice if we could get some sort of reassurance from gaijin that they understand this vehicle is BROKEN badly. But since its a bomber, they treat it like a bastard

I was just hit 2.7km away by an aim9b with auto countermeasures on. Thats how bugged and useless they are. God this vehicle is an abomination
