Yes and no. 12.0 would also work up to 13.0. Then there’s the question of the right lineup. The Leopard 2A5 is currently 12.3 and the Puma VJTF is 11.0. So, all in all, it’s completely irrelevant whether it’s 12.0 or 12.3 in GroundRB. The question is whether the Tornado can compete with the big boys? My answer would be more like no. Sure, you can play it and sure, you can get kills. But with the exception of the HOSBO bomb, it’s seriously lacking in range. The LJDAM and, hopefully, the GBU-48 (if my report is accepted) would be the best choices due to their additional GPS guidance. Or you could try your luck flying low with unguided bombs. However, that strategy might not get you anywhere.
Here’s how I see it right now. The Tornado is missing that certain something in the current state of the game. It needs a push in the right direction. We won’t be seeing ARM anytime soon, so we need something else. My next idea would be the TSPJ. But I suspect the devs wouldn’t know how to implement it…
Id hope they didnt gatekeep ARMs behind certain airframes like they did for the AS-34 and ASMs in general.
Would be good if all Tonkas got their appropriate ARMs (though whether the 11.3/10.0 ones should is a debate to be had) as well as everything that could carry some form of ARM. From the Jags running Martels all the way up to Typhoons running Spear-EW
I think the ECR variant would be cool too. I’ll take any Tornado. On the other hand, we shouldn’t expect miracles from the Mk-105 engines. But more is always nice, of course.
I’m not familiar with the Mi-28’s IRCM, but I am familiar with the Tzefa and AH-1F/S IRCM, and unfortunately, it hasn’t really convinced me so far. I would also say that the TSPJ is more than just an IRCM. In any case, I would be happy if things started to progress on it.
At a bare minimum , in place of fuel tanks would make sense. I can see potential concerns with fitting them next to each other on the belly (not saying that is the concern or not, but possible)
Yeah, I’d consider the SLEs entire A2G loadout… up for review. Like the Brimstones… Its… wierd.
Purely a proposed weapon for it. I cant think of another example of a purely proposed weapon being fitted. (not saying there isnt, just none come to mind)
