Tornado GR.4: Tenacious Tonka

ive noticed airspeed matters much more than altitude, essensially fall like normal bombs above 7000-8000m, atleast the 2000’s,

hey, atleast their not moddled as “Guided Bombs” but as “AGMs” cause a mach launch limit would kill a lot they have going for them

Yeah, that does make sense, as it means the motor is having to do less work. Essentially you are throwing the PGM further. Without wings, its not exactly gliding to the target.

and yeah, that is huge, I keep getting screwed by the drop speed limit in Sim

Just want to add, you can still bomb from your own territory with Grom 2s. You’ve just got to manually gain altitude and speed for a bit first, but that takes very little time.

And they’re blatantly wrong is the point the community makes out.

Not in the sense that Brimstone mightn’t be balanced (although I think on account of multispectral decoys, buildings/concealment, it very definitely can be countered) but that as repeatedly pointed out, Kh-38 already has the FnF ability, it already has the IOG, heck in some ways it’s more dangerous because a) larger warhead. You can be nowhere near it as a light vehicle/SPAA and you can be taken out… having attempted to decoy it and defeat it by popping smoke and manouevring, whereas Brimstone still practically has to direct hit you.

It would just appear that to the Devs, balancing is a convenient term to be applied at will… see planned RARDEN changes, that when people lifted the curtain and tried to question it, no one had any answers officially, and then guess what? It was shelved. Why? We will never know, but if it had some historical backing to it, why would the devs feel the need to back down?

The ahistorical change (giving a missile that you can’t use one of the two literal main firing modes) has already hit, and the rationale is once again “balance”

Yet Grom 1 and 6x Kh-38 was perfectly fine (until they realised Grom 1 would collapse all modes with Bombing in it)

I’m not engaging in this anymore, I’ve made my own arguments with players, I’ve tried to justify MMW with the Devs already, they didn’t bite. Move on, it will come when they build the counters in game.

And believe me, while it probably doesn’t come across, we’re grateful.

The IIR PGMs have the same guidance, the main differences being speed and payload. I believe you can take 4 and target things with the FLIR?

Edit: the seeker is actually quite close in magnification to the Kh-38MT as well

Am just curious but why did the devs give other missiles a placeholder f&f mode and not give brimstone it. I feel like there excuse off o it would be a fake are made up missile is just bs what about par3 are the other missiles. It has absolutely been done before on multiple occasions so why are they making excuses in not giving brimstone a placeholder f&f mode like they have done multiple times before ?? I just what to know there actual reason in not doing it. Are they afraid because its on a jet and not a helicopter why is it. If we made a suggestion to give brimstone a placeholder f&f mode would they consider it if plenty of players supported it ??

they’ve said before, man in the loop guidance for AJ.168, spike, etc. doesn’t exist in game so they got the standard TV/IIR guidance instead to enable them to be added.

SAL is a historical guidance mode that already exists in-game, so the Brimstone can be added without needing to make a compromise.

Haven’t gotten to play the GR.4 yet (haven’t even started researching, my will to play died a death when they made the F.3 Late a whole new 400k RP plane, and the SHAR2 HUD didn’t get added)

So I couldn’t really comment, other than it can take 4.

For me. It just sucks that an aircraft, gets a massive and notable nerf, In air modes, like SIM, Because of tanks in another gamemode.

But you have things like the A-10C and AV-8B(NA) doing what the brimstones should be capable of doing in a sim match, in just wiping out large numbers of ai tanks.

Just a shame they can’t add gamemode specific limitations.

Is it possible for us to get Brimstone II but only with SAL?

The better motor would fix one of the main issues with the current brimstone

@Smin1080p_WT

Supposing that we could prove they could be used effectively against tanks, will Japan not be seeing the ASM-2/3 missiles, as they as ARH?

Sorry if you’ve answered this before

I’m checking this thread to find out if @AlvisWisla has unlocked the best strike aircraft in the game.

Not since dev. I did all the testing I needed to do there, against Pantsirs even.
I’ll get around to it next major update likely.
Working on Sukhoi 34 at this time to get it air sim ready [I’ll never use it in ground].

Anyone having issues with the BOL pods? I unlocked and equipped them but have no additional flares/chaff. I still have the standard 56/1200 and no additional 350 from the BOL.
Edit:
Okay maybe I’m late to the party, I guess in order for the MAW to work with a decent flare/chaff amount, you have to have one of each type of countermeasure pod. This cuts your total CMs in half to 28/600, which frankly sucks, but is understandable from a balancing standpoint. However, I cannot find a single configuration in which the BOL pods do anything.

Delete any and all custom loadouts and make them fresh. Its a long standing bug with BOL (and any other loadout based CM pod) on every aircraft. (Might also be affecting your TERMA pod as well by the sounds of it)

Ditching 1x BOZ pod in favour of a TERMA pod isnt actually all that big of a deal. Especially as the TERMA should need both pods to get full all-aspect coverage but you can get away with just one in game due to game limitations

2x BOL (320) + 1x TERMA (240) + 1x BOZ (28/600) will give you (nearly) 600 flares and 600 large calibre chaff which is an exceptional CM load. Especially if BOL ever gets fixed. So I dont think its a “balancing” thing but purely an historical aircraft thing

follow Morvan’s instructions but don’t forget about rebooting the game after creating a loadout!

Sounds like Evil Gaijin will smile like Teletubbies and… in the next update, Maybe Gaijin patch a hole by limiting TERMA to require both for use, Just like the External Fuel tank does.

Because Brit are not allowed to have some good goodies. right? ;)

I am surprised they didn’t force that, but 1x Boz + 1x TERMA is a historically accurate loadout as it covers the important parts like rear and below. (Just not the parts obscured by the airframe) So if the game can’t handle 100% true implemration then that’s on them to fix.

But given how things like PD MAWS isn’t modeled yet but is probably on their to-do list for sooner rather than later. I could see a MAWS overhaul sometime this year that would nerf it/correct it

Thank you! With the BOL working the CM count is way more respectable!
