Ah okay, so it was a limitation placed on (and then removed from) the missile. Not its kinetic range somehow being sapped away. OP was not the clearest English.
On a related note, it would be nice to see some more nuance with IR missiles and their functions. More than the simple process we have now.
Yeah. Its only lock ranges in questions. though qutie often I have shot oppotunities but cant fire with both the 9L and 9M due to lack of lock. so fixed Aim-9M lock ranges and dechriped 9Ls would be rather nice (they are both “dechriped” missiles)
IR signatures are basically not modeled. Its all just based upon the thrust of the aircraft. That would be the first major step to any improvements
