There is no "new weather" for naval maps on DEV

As far as i can tell there is no “new weather” for naval maps on DEV. Despite that players asked for weather and time of the day variety for the naval battles many times. Daytime presets still always hazed as hell and then bleached and blurred even more in first person view in any weather, clear sky weather is absent in rotation.

When could look like this at least sometimes. With winds affecting smokes and lightnings in the sky. And night battles optional as in ground

Do you want new weather for naval with different time of the day presets like sunrise/sunset battles, storms and occasional night battles?

Do you want to sink about a big wave? Do ships even have Night Vision?

Do you ever stated a match in the night on naval maps? It’s not pitch black as in ground.

Besides that night battles could be optional as in ground.

A few notes from a multi-year naval player…

There used to be night battles - people complained about being unable to see, or blinded by tracers, and it was abandoned.

There used to be dusk/dawn battles - people complained about one team being silhouetted in the rising sun and the other hidden in a dark background and it was abandoned.

There used to be battles in mist and fog - people complained about being unable to see and it was abandoned.

There used to be storms with big waves - people complained about being unable to target, especially with small coastals. and it was abandoned.

Im beginning to see a pattern…

Bonus round - There used to be land based artillery (well, one gun each side on one map as a test) - people complained and it was abandoned.

People say they want New Weather etc but the reality is the lack of real life naval knowledge in the community is obvious as they continually talk down the negative aspects pointed out to them by those who do have experience. I would love more variety, but rarely do Gaijin bother to test it properly and simply drop the most intense version (artillery excluded).

Conclusion - Beware what you wish for!

You talking about times when sun was blinding so even in ground you cant see anything. And were no big bois in the sea. Those time long gone.

I’m punting Submarines will be “the next big thing” that sinks without much trace…

Sun brightness setting won’t affect night battles, because it just isn’t a factor for obvious reasons.

Neither will it alter the dusk/dawn disparity in any East>West facing maps.

Night battles long time “optional” in ground. Same thing could be implemented in naval and i bet that those who turn it off will be minority.

‘Night’ isnt Weather.

Plus having something optional isn’t solving the inherent problems. Im fact it would be thinning out the Naval community even further as I don’t buy in to the idea that subs will result in a massive influx of new players.

Night battles option is not thinning anything. If there is not enough players with that option enabled to create battle, all in queue just load in regular battle.

Idk, looks like there should be new weather for naval…

DM commit 3 hours ago…

Every person queuing for night isn’t in a queue for day. Automatically switching over to day (2min, 10mim, 2 players, 10 players …?) makes even having night options selected is pointless

It’s working not like that. Don’t spread misinformation.

You literally said

So for a duration these players won’t be available for day. Plus these night players must be queued long enough to realistically find a rare game in a less popular mode. it should be all in or none in.

It’s parallel queues. Not mutually exclusive.

As someone who played Silent Hunter 3 and 4 since I was like 10 years old (28 now), and Uboat for like 2 years, I would love to see more weater variation!

Doesn’t matter how it’s done, more players in night means less in day, and has been said many times over the years naval already has a shortage spread over high/low AB, RB and now a permanent EC.

I’ve already pointed out that over the years several time and weather variations have been introduced, and subsequently removed. I predict there would be short term interest until the obvious issues drive people back to daytime, clear skies, flat seas. The only way I would see is acceptable is to have all options inside the one battle mix as it was, and if people don’t like it either they or the Devs can quit.

It’s literally means opposite. More players attracted by cool weather and time of the day conditions the more players in any naval battles.

You again talking about times when naval just arrived and there were boats and destroyers and literally different render and maps setups.

Variations in Weather will not attract mass amounts of new players however much it’s hyped. It’s still the same broken, repetitive gameplay loops that frustrate the current player base. Changes that have been made recently are mostly irrelevant and trying to force the idea will be Naval saving grace is delusion - people claim the same for big name Battleships, Subs, modern guided missiles era…

Sure lets remove this options for tanks and air too, just cause someone in community didn’t like it. And see how disappointed rest community will be. Playing same weather on same maps year by year.

Naval gameloop problems lie in other directions.

funny that they showing DLSS5 options on naval with weather conditions that not played in game.
