XM246 moment
No.
There was a single image showing the German made but Sweden used IRIS-T SLS system. Which quite frankly, wont be all that much stronger than what they have now and is most likely just a testbed for modelling IIR seekers.
Im not sure about the other image shown but I didnt infer from that that ONLY Europe and China were getting something. Heck, Italy, Britain, France and maybe even Germany might not get anything next major update, we will have to wait and see.
I also saw nothing to suggest that US and Israel wont be getting anything.
and?
The US got the ADATS 18 months before the UK got the ADATS without a gun. FlakRad was added about the same time
Israel and Italy dont even have top tier SPAA.
Japan only recently got anything even close to matching the ADATS.
etc etc.
I dont really see why US would be excluded given that it was actually one of hte first to get a new top tier SAM and other nations were a year or so behind. If that tracks. You’ll have something like SL-AMRAAM and Britain will be stuck with the ADATS for next year or more until we get the SkySabre
I apologize, you misunderstood me. I wanted to say that the last time Gaijin introduced MODERN!!! top SAM for the USA, was 6 years ago.
And these mid-range air defense systems, like the one that was on the Sherman body, are being introduced regularly.
full caps and exclamation marks is like the text version of a red circle and arrows
Curious, what would there be to add (besides multi-vehicle systems)?
It was designed for it, but being an anti-missile system makes something automatically an anti-aircraft one. The new US defense budget throws a LOT of money at anti-air/missile/drone development, some of which is in partnership with the Israelis.
Mavericks are slow because gaijin gimped their speed or was just ill informed when they added them. They are much faster irl which has been bug reported and passed to devs 6 months ago. Now will it get fixed probably not for another 2 years.Community Bug Reporting System
🇺🇸 NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System)
Developers: Kongsberg (Norway) + Raytheon (USA)
Missiles: AIM-120 AMRAAM (all modifications: B/C/D), as well as AIM-9X (in new versions)
Range: up to 40 km (AMRAAM), up to 25 km (AIM-9X)
Targets: aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, cruise missiles
Implementation in the USA:
Used to protect strategic facilities, including Washington D.C.
Applied and exported to: Ukraine, Norway, Lithuania, Spain, etc.
I love how you don’t say “Sweden”, “Germany”, “France”, “Britain” and “Italy” but “Europe” when comparing nations
This one will probably go to the Sweds if it was made for the Norwegians.
It is important that the US has this system too. The funniest thing is that Gaijin chose IRIS-T and not NASAMS, which appeared in the early 1990s. And IRIS-T appeared 5 years ago. Although it would have been logical to introduce NASAMS first, well then they would have had to give it to the US too.
Implementation in the USA!
And here’s the mystery, why did Gaijin introduce IRIS-T 2019.
And not NASAMS 1998?
NASAMS require a multi-vehicle launch system which they appear to be developing and working on, and part of that can be seen in the SEAD event.
Also, the NASAMS main weapon system will be the AMRAAM that was added a year ago. So it could be argued that a core part of the NASAMS has been in game for a while.
IRIS-T however is an entirely different ball-game with IIR seeker which will be difficult to model fairly. Out of all the IIR Missiles used for SAMs, it appears to be the most limited in terms of range which makes it a really sensible pick for figuring out IIR Modeling.
Also, the US can get NASAMs with AMRAAM, Germany and Sweden cannot, they require the SLS for anything more modern
Introduction dates mean little.
Does the US even use NASAMS 3? I’ve only found them using NASAMS 1 (only AMRAAM)
Also not surprised it hasn’t been added earlier, with range much longer than even the Pantsir (iirc?). It also looks like a Multi-Vehicle system.
Yes, we have AIM-120 in the game, but there is no IRIS-T missile. It would be more logical to introduce NASAMS with AIM-120.
and do you have proof or a CM comment that you can post in this thread stating that NASAM is NOT being added next major update?
There is also a separate trailer with AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel, which can attach NASAMS to itself. Another one on a Humvee body and there is also one with a radar from an airplane. There are many options and types.
Does the US even operate this?
Yes, the US is the main operator of NASAMS. By the way, there is also Australian and Canadian NASAMS with such a towed radar
This is NOMADS. Uses some components from NASAMS, but not all. This also was unveiled in 2024. Doesn’t seem to be the exact same as the NASAMS, but a derivative (similar to F-2 and F-16)
