The Scimitar is rubbish

Long story short, it drives like ass, doesn’t feel as maneuverable as it should be, and feels sluggish for one of the fastest tanks on Earth. I don’t mind it bouncing like a circus clown on a monocycle, but mixing it with the horrible gun’s management makes it way more painful.

I don’t know how I’ve spaded it, but it’s too much of a painful vehicle to play. While it may realistically behave like it currently does (in some aspects), I believe there’s plenty of room for improvement. Isn’t there a single chance to make it, say, a little bit more maneuverable?

P.D. I would like to read your opinions and experience with this machine, for contrast.

There’s an open bug report about it.

The ‘maxBrakeForce’ parametre for the Scimitar and Striker vehicles in the British tree is currently 115,000, which is the same as vehicles in the 30 tonne weight class, while the Scimitar weighs less than 8 tonnes and Striker weighs a little more. This causes the steering for these vehicles, which functions by braking on one of the tracks, to be extremely sensitive and far too sharp, as well as making the vehicles significantly overperform in terms of stopping distances.

It’s accepted, but it’s why its so ass to drive.

Its been modelled really badly, armour is off, suspension is just awful, its brakes are too extreme and its too slow.

Dont worry myself and good friends such as @Sebbo_the_Plebbo have been bug reporting its issues.

The vehicle should also get double dif steering but this isnt a normal vehicle mechanic yet, i have the data to get that perfect too
top speed wrong
engine output wrong
Neutral turn is non functional
Road wheels incorrect composition
Suspension wrong
Braking force too high (sebbo the plebbos report)

A man can dream, hopefully they’ll remember UK’s existance and fix something.

One can hope.

Whenever i spot a document for the CVRT family a pick it up to read through, the scorpion/scimitar is my favourite tank ever built after all, i bug report whatever i spot too because i want it to be the best representation possible. Once it is close it will actually be worthy of 7.7, its currently 6.0 worthy at best

Isnt that just a marketing lie?

I like scimitar, even in its current oversteering, buged as hell state. Bugfree, it will be god-like.

When compared to like XM800T (which was 7.7 on release IIRC), its obviously worse against other light tanks as it is unstabilised and has lower RoF.

However Scimitar can do one thing XM800T cant - penetrate the sides of medium tanks, specifically T-54/55s.

The difference in fraging potential is massive - no longer you have to siletly watch T-54/55 drive by, hoping it wont notice you.

On top of that, it has same APHE as falcon so it gets to enjoy the same coupola shooting gimmicks as SPAAs (ive even oneshoted T58s on several occasions through commander coupola).

While Im looking forward to steering fixes, im afraid it will ruin my 7.7 lineup because scimi will definetively go up.

shell shattered

you can pen things from further away but the ROF of RARDEN is lacking

Paradoxically, I never had issue with APDS shattering. If anything, Im surprised by the amount of spall it generates, assuming it will pen of course. Straight up insert the clip of Alex Jones saying “Destroy the child” (of course I had shots that do nothing but yellow the gunner, but I dont get them that often).

As for RoF, I absolutely dreaded it, Morvran can testify as I confided that in our private convo, but after playing it, it isnt that bad. If anything, it forces me to actually place my shots unlike with XM800T or Marders which are just “brrrt until it dies or gun goes red

Its rare for an APDS to actually make some spalling i know.

Anyway, correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the Mk II Scimi get thermals? If so, its on my wishlist together with the Sheridian TTS.

The mk2 did get a new sight system that included thermals and a LRF if im remembering correctly. it would also get the cummins diesel so would have more horsepower.

Scimitar mk2 would actually fit 7.7 which is nice, so expect it to be 8.7 because gaijin hates britain

LRF AND more HPT? Sign me in lol.

At one hand, its kit wouldnt be unheard of at such BR. at other, base scimi is already good at 7.7. Then theres Fox at 8.0 and Warrior at 8.3. would need to see it implemented to pass judgement on this one.

scimi 2 would be a warrior without the composite armour and no MILAN rocket and a far worse turret traverse. it would need to be lower. 7.7 with the fox would be logical ( i think the fox was perfectly fine at 7.7 but thats another issue) and move the scimitar 1 lower.

Speaking of the CVRT family I would love to see the Scorpion, but that would probably require the devs fixing HESH which is less probable than winning the lottery.

but better mobility, no? trade-offs and what not.

as in one step to 7.3, or 1 whole BR lower?

about the same in mobility, warrior probably better due to more gears

in current state i think it would still be mid at 6.3 but id put it at 7.0 as balance, its surrounded by .50 cals and heavies which means it needs to flank because it hasnt got turret speed to just dance around everything

again, would need to see it implemented to pass judgment.

That is certainly one of the takes of yours.

i know it sounds unorthadox and will give people flashbacks to 6.7 fox. But the thing is functionally a hellcat with far worse penetration on the gun surrounded by things it can only even think of fighting side on while not having the mobility to just make everything a side on fight like fox could.

that plus no protection from .50 cal means it would on paper be fine there. only reason it could exceed there is enemy skill issue

Man, sure.
