The Rapier buff didn't do shit ans it's still useless

lower the range to like 3m and increase the fragment damage and fragmentation another time because you cant kill with 500g of explosive explosive 4m away anyways

Gaijin cannot comprehend the fact that a country could produce a missile that can actually accurately guide itself past 3km

Bare in mind 5 deaths and only 2 of the kills (1 air 1 ground) were from pre patch and the air kill was a guy being nice after noticing I hit him with like 6 rapier missiles and crashing.

I would say its working pretty decently, I doubt we will ever get gaijin to do the 90% plus 1 hit kill rates claimed by the company, but still, works well for me for the most part. Oddly 2 planes seem to survive way more to it, alpha jets and su 25s.

If I wasnt trolling around pre patch with it, this thing would have a redic k/d for me lol.

As a pure AA platform the Rapier is pretty decent, I’d probably take it over the OSA and Stormer HVM

However, if I had to chose one British SPAA in that range I’d probably use the Stormer AD as its just so easy to use with the fire and forget stringer and the gun is really nice.

Personally I’d like to see the Stormer HVM get Martlet missiles (8km range, HEAT warhead, proxy fuse with a few KG warhead) and go up to maybe 10.7-11.0. Those missiles would basically turn it into a mini ADATS. Only issue is they have a pretty mediocre speed of 510 m/s, however, you could probably take both Starstreaks and Martlets at the same time.

i will use both, if there is helicopters the rapier does much better than the stormer AD

lmao no regarding starstreak

having been using the Rapier, Eh. Id have to disagree, its got the same problem as the Starstreak where is not great at defeating a defending target, but unlike Starstreak the radar lock gives warning. Im still using 2-3 missiles for anything that isn’t a SU-17/22. Also the Rapier sights have stupid low zoom for hitting things at 7-8km.
Probably going to stick with OSA for long range and Stormer AD for close in tbh.

Weirdly I find it (Rapier) really good against UCAVs, the small proxy radius means it’s easier to break only one of the wings off, sends them spinning and stops the guiding atgms, unlike the OSA which tends to snap both

The radar thing is something I was wondering about, I know that a lot of systems have IRS-T locking, does Rapier?

As I can turn the radar off then lock a target, does it still give a radar lock or no? Its what I have been doing, radar on to locate the direction then I turn it off and lock on the target after.

You can, it does have visual tracking, but you don’t get range info unlike Stormer HVM, and you can spot and target enemy aircraft well outside weapons range

If they decrease the trigger radius the missile won’t even explode and just fly past even more often.

It doesn’t work within 3km either

It doesn’t. All you have to do is not fly in a straight line and the missile has no chance to hit.

Please spare Britain from having to grind a 6th overtiered SPAA in the 10.0-11.0 range.

The Starstreak is trash.

That doesn’t happen in game. Yesterday I had a drone eat 8 Rapier missiles before even getting crit and the OSA with its 12m radius doesn’t even damage drones.

not that bad

Maybe its my years of using HVM and MCLOS missiles but I am not finding this “massively” an issue so far when people evade. More so my issue is that I can plap a hind in 1-2 hits, but a alouette can survive 4 hits and land, repair, come back to attack xD

Though if I remove my meme deaths/ “kills” from pre patch… I am at like 15/16 kills per death so far I think lmao

Starstreak should be better, the 7km range hardlimit is bullshit and the ADAD brochure states that it can detect and track targets out to at least 18km.

But its far from trash once you learn how to use it properly.

UCAVs are nigh indestructable, you can slap them with direct hit 155 HE VT and they dont come down.
