The Magic series missiles should not be given to the Hawk 200.
To be honest, rather than obtaining higher-performance missiles, I would prefer the Hawk 200 to remain at the 10.7 ground battle rating instead of being moved higher. The issue of adding new missiles to the Hawk 200 can be reserved for newer Hawk variants. For example, the BTA4 for the T84 was initially approved as a shell issue for the Chinese T-80UD but was eventually implemented on the T84 instead.
Its been reported but doesnt mean it will be added.
Magic 1 though could be fun on them, but yes, magic II is unneeded on this Hawk
Yes, I might be a bit neurotic about this. It’s just that I’ve been waiting for a British 10.7 CAS aircraft for far too long. You’re right.
The Radar equipped Hawk with Skyflash DFs could be a candidate for Magic IIs… But Id rather that be kept low to make full use of a PD+Skyflash combo at a lower BR
we reckoinging 11.3 PD+SF due to subsonic nature?
Yeah.
Im essentially comparing it to the Viggen C at 11.3
| Viggen C | Hawk 200 | |
|---|---|---|
| BR | 11.3 | 11.0/11.3 |
| PD Radar | Yes | Yes |
| TWS | Yes | No (I think) |
| Guns (internal) | Yes | No |
| CMs | 48 Large | 60 Standard |
| IR | 4x Aim-9J | 2-4x Aim-9L |
| BVR | Skyflash DF | Skyflash DF |
| Max Speed | Supersonic | Subsonic |
Could even be argued it should be 11.0 compared to the Viggen C
unless its given Skyflash SuperTEMP as they were around the same time period, it’d have the tradeoff of better missile but slower
Maybe… but Id still be hardpressed to place it above 11.3
