The M48's rangefinder doesn't do what it is supposed to do

Patton superelevation canceled. Its so over.

Haha, then they say that the game is realistic, and then they improve or worsen the performance of the tanks according to their interests, caring little or nothing about the historical data.

It’s not a lie, it’s based of Yugoslav testing results where M431 HEAT fired from M47 Pattons were unreliable if the T-54 test target was angled 20 degrees or so.
Tank fired HEAT shells struggled past 65-70 degrees impact angle to fuze and explode until the FFAIS fuze entered service in the 80s with M830, M456A2 etc

Would be better if you could make a suggestion . And making it work a bit like curret Laser range finder ingame. But it would take some time before your gun are adjusted. and it might not be accurate at far range (For example if use on targets at 1050m away It might adjust your gun to 950m or 1100m instead)

Another way is to model them like GHPC where you have to manually adjust the range.

What do you mean? That’s exactly like it should be. You range the target and after that the gun is set for the range and you’re ready to fire.
It will of course take a lot longer than with a laser and isn’t as accurate.

I’m aware that how it work irl. It would require Gaijin to model that up. So it’s up to them to decide which way they want to implement such system into the game.

I don’t really understand what you mean with “which way”.
There’s only the current way or the correct way.

To made it clear.

First way is to make it similar to LRF ingame but with longer interact time and not as much accurate as LRF.

Second way is to made it realistic like GHPC.
first one would likely be the easiest way to do. (in my opinion)

Currently ingame range finder (that aren’t Laser range finder) only tell you range.

So you mean where you actually have to adjust the stereoscopic rangefinder yourself?

Don’t think that will work, since the rangefinding procedure is done by the crew and not the player.

But I guess it would be nice to have for SIM. Maybe where the rangefinder button makes you switch from gunner view to stereoscopic view.

Yep. “If” Gaijin bother to model such system up.
