The Indian Nation & Ground Tree - The Call of Mahabharata!

It all comes down to the weight requirements for both the vehicles. Zorawar still has to contend with heavier turret while keeping weight in the same ballpark.

I think tracked Vikram has Laser Warning System.

Actually both of the vehicles have the Laser warning system. If you see the wheeled variant, it has LWS at the top similar to how it is in Arjun Mk1A.

I wonder if they will put the 105mm turret on the wheeled 8x8 hull?

There is a plan for that along with the moroccon WhAP which is slated to receive 105mm turret.

Plus, there will be Zorawar competitors from AVNL and Kalyani that are likely to be showcased next year.

Also are you sure that the Indian PT-76’s aren’t of the PT-76B variant since by the time India got them in the middle of the 1960’s, all of them are of their PT-76B model or upgraded to B spec’s. If it was an Afghan PT-76 it would make sense if it’s of the normal PT-76 since they got them in 1958

Is there any visual indicator for the difference between the two variants?

It has only 25 degree traverse on both sides. I don’t know how useful it could be in the game.

The muzzle break for is the main give away.

The PT-76 (Object 740/PT-76 Model 1951-1956) uses a multi-slot muzzle break which is seen on the Chinese PT-76

While the ones on the PT-76B (model 1957 onwards, though only the 1959 model was the first variant to get the PT-76B Nomenclature. The 1957 model is a weird transitionary variant between the two) uses the muzzle break that has a design akin to what you see on WWII era German Tanks like the Pz-IV & Panther. This due to the Original PT-76 and the PT-76B using a different variant of the same gun, the 1951 variant using a D-56T which cannot be stabilised, while the 1957 variant using a D-56TM which can and always comes with a stabilisers.

The PT-76 mod 1957 & PT-76B also got a slight hull raise over the original version

India got their PT-76’s around the same time as countries like Egypt, Finland and Yugoslavia are getting theirs’s and all sources explicitly state that they are of the PT-76B model so I cannot see why the Indians would get a worse model when the PT-76B is available, unless the USSR is also selling off the older PT-76’s alongside the B’s which I doubt that.

IIRC the D-56TM only has a single-axis stabilization, whereas the more modern D-56TS does have dual-axis

Determining the exact model is very complicated (and honestly confusing) since both of them is virtually identical in terms of visual looks of both the hull & the gun itself

but from what I’ve seen, the Indian PT-76 has:
(1) higher handrail along the top of the turret rather than the middle area (introduced in 1957)
(2) heighten hull which protrudes a bit more than the original model (can be seen on the fenders not reaching the front of the hull) (1962)
(3) sunken engine & has a side exhaust cutout & protrudes rather than a flushed look (1961-62)
(4) a headlight located on the right side of the turret (1959)

all of this combine makes me believe this could be a PT-76B Model 1962 or newer. So yea i think it does use the D-56TS

This is also not a ‘Vijayanta GBT’. The Vijayanta is a Vickers Mk 1, this is a Vickers Mk 3 hull with the GBT turret. Nothing to do with India at all.

I guess, this pic would be a better representation of T-55 in Indian service during 1971 war where it was fitted with a fake fume extractor on the cannon to visually differentiate from the Chinese Type 59 tanks that were in Pakistani service.

I got this image of an upgraded T90 Bhishma from Indian Army Armoured Corps | Page 4 | Defence Forum Bharat - India's Defence Forum

Does anyone know what system is behind gunner’s sight?
Other than that, I can make out Laser Warning System on two sides of the turret along with a speaker attached.
