DCS is still more accurate than war thunder. The only thing to consider though, are the documents.
Still not a source,… just go read requirements.
Phantoms faced defeat in vietnam against mig21 1:2.
Mostly because of RoE restrictions, and various stores oversights e.g. not including a gun or otherwise odd decisions relating to ordnance (early on the USAF F-4s were forced to use the AIM-4D Falcon in place of the Sidewinder due to hubris). or Mostly just the USAF having improperly prepared fighter pilots for the job.
Oh and it doesn’t help when they stopped flying when the losses got bad, or were prevented from being exploited due to political pressure.
I search for such a thread just as I tried to lock on a Jet in front of me. couple hundred meters off ground… it was not possible. I followed him for 30 aseconds and my radar couldn’t even see a jet curing right in front of him… What is this?
Which specific airframe are you using; as the radar may have different modes which could be causing a similar problem(s) in the specified scenario.
Though even without knowing the specifics the most likely cause is the Multipath effect which is due to the fact that that the net angle of the antenna is less than horizontal, and the target is at low altitude relative to the slant distance, which results in the radar not being able to break the target’s return out of spurious returns and so unable to correlate the track.
The easiest way to prevent this from occurring is to use the Pulse-Doppler mode if your radar has them, though as an F-4E variant it almost certainly doesn’t have them.
There is only one mode and it’s not PD. The thing is so bad, ift prefers to tgt friendlies despite IFF and can’t see anything… incredible.
True but for further on the avionics and flight control systems please view this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oCikJSApsqI2N1h26Ultv5E9AbgsiEDMST2tfE_KAG4/edit?usp=sharing
Because you’re using ACM and ACM mode for some reason doesn’t discern friendlies or enemies and treats everything as a target.
The F-4E would be much better if it had some rudimentary flood mode or CAA. That way you can at least have a chance to beat Mig-23s and other pulse-doppler aircraft within short range
I want gaijin consider upgraded radar AN/APQ-120 to AN/APQ-120(V), and J79-GE-17 replace with smokeless engine (J79-GE-17C)
And remodel F-4E from Block 48 to Block 53 with ASX-1 electro-optical (TISEO)
New equipment for F-4E (USAF)
- AIM-9J-1
- GBU-10/B, GBU-11/B & GBU-12/B Paveway I Laser Guided Bomb (replace GBU-15(V)1/B)
- AN/AVQ-23A/B Pave Spike electro-optical laser designator targeting pod
Nah put it at 11.7 with Aim-7F and Aim-9P-4 as well as AGM-65Ds
Also it should get the APQ-120(V)12 with CAA mode. Which is basically like a pseudo MTI mode where it uses electonics in the radar to filter out ground clutter.
Those are just export missiles. It would have AIM-9Ls
Then there would be a vacuum at 11.0 BR. CAA and flood mode isn’t as good as PD. Just update it to the better block model and let it keep it’s current missiles.
I here your complaint about the F-4E Phantom II. I personally agree with this because more realistically it should be much better in-game. It looks like a 13.7 if it were buffed like if it had AIM-9Ms and AIM-120As but seriously it could use a major buff/update
nah it could use Aim-9P-4
ur crazy and no it never used Aim-120s
Could use =/= did.
Its a USAF aircraft, it used 9Ls, not export missiles.
yeah 9Ls would be alright ig
better than nothing. also wdym a Vacuum at 11.0. its 11.3
Oh opps i thought it did lol
